Wal-Mart Plans to Open 21 Supercenters in Canada

Greater competition equals lower prices and contrary to the myth, Walmarts actually cause wage increases in retail areas they operate in.

Plus they are a great place to play "Spot the Mullet." I got to hand it to WalMart--they got chutzpah. I read that they were not having the greatest success in Germany, and they sued the big chain in Germany claiming the German chain was too big and made it impossible to compete. This is Walmart, the biggest company in the world.

They can be pretty ruthless, no doubt about it--especially if you're a supplier. They have a rule that you have to drop your price 3% a year or somthing? But that spells savings for the consumer. They can also take credit for manifesting some capitalist progress in China.

They're market strategy adn distribution management were revolutionary--or at elast so an MBA buddy of mine tells me. They are a case study for every MBA now.
