The Canadian dollar is continueing to hit records. As of this morning...

$1:
The Canadian dollar traded at 83.88 cents US this morning, up 0.38 a cent from Friday. The U.S. dollar stood at $1.1922 Cdn, down 0.54 of a cent.

This means good for imports, but poor for exports. What do people think of the trend? I know a mill in BC is laying people off already due to drastic cuts in USA purchases.

as far as i know, we are still getting screwed on the lumber and the cows, and albertan oil is still being practically given away to the imperial superpower, the grand ol' US of A

The lumber dispute was supposed to be over . But Americans are appealing it so it looks like the fight is still on so to speak . I thought NAFTA was supposed tp benifit the States Canada and Mexico . Well I guess it is benefitting the states . Sure aint doing us a whole hell of a lotta good .

The US originally wanted 2 seperate trade agreements, one between Mexico and other between Canada; this was done in the hopes of having Mexico and Canada compete against each other and have our economies run into the ground while the US benifits.

I love having the dollar higher. It's going to mean that buying stuff online from The States will be cheaper to me and that Canadian hockey teams can better afford to pay their players since they are paid in American dollars.

I know there is two sides to every coin and this is going to be hard on manufactorers but hey, in a few months we will be making the Monopoly Money jokes.

Godz46 Godz46:
If Canada keeps edging towards socialism (more and more government control and top heavy state) the day will come. Socialism always fails.

Except for China, where you give it a few years and they will be more of a world power then The States. Also lets not forget about Scandinavia which is running a very sucessful socialist platform.
