If the main parties continue to lose vote share, Canadians will have to get their heads around the concept of coalition government.
I have a few friends not voting Conservative as the party is just 'Trudeau Light"
Have a few relatives voting Conservative as 'it's the only party that will outlaw abortions'
Know a few voting Liberal for the way they handled Covid, even though Liberals don't stand a chance around here.
Know quite a few people simply denying that the Conservatives want to reopen the whole pipelines and oi tankers as they hate Ttudeau so much.
And MOST don't have a fucking clue how a Parliamentary democracy works they're mad that Trudeau decides if their toilet flushes properly and when he doesn't personally order the army in to clear the streers of the homeless. They think he's a 16th century King like Trump thought he was.
I honestly don't know how long the PPC can sustain its momentum past whenever the pandemic ends. He's getting traction right now because people are angry and stressed about vaccinations, the strain on the healthcare system and worry about their livelihoods.
The PPC's problem is that Maxime Bernier is too stupid to really be an effective political leader. CDN Patriot touched on it when he mentioned how the PPC was a tire fire in 2019 back before the pandemic started. Riding organizations were collapsing even here in Alberta. Libertarians who were attracted to the party were leaving in droves because Mad Max was attracting the alt-right nutbars.
The anti-vaxxers are not doing themselves any favours by hurling everything from rocks to spousal insults at Justin Trudeau. That just makes Trudeau look more sympathetic and blunts any potential appeal to undecided voters. And they may have crossed a line by barging into several Salmon Arm, B.C. schools while classes were in session.
Looking at some of the Twitter fallout, I see a lot of enraged parents saying what they'd do if the protesters tried to come to their kids' schools. I wouldn't be surprised if incidents like this lead to the anti-vaxxers being the ones to start facing anger and backlash. People are already yelling at John Horgan on social media to start pushing back against these yahoos. I wouldn't be surprised if we start seeing counter-protesters too.
Can't we all just get along?
-J.
No apparently no one can get along. People are just too militant and entrenched in their ideas being the only ideas that have any correct ones. People are listening to whoever will tell them what they want to hear. Nothing else seems to matter or be relevant. People aren’t debating point counter point. It’s more this the only way followed by fingers in the ears while singing lalala I can’t hear you.
So, it turns out the people at the polling stations do not have a sense of humour. My sister is working one today so I drove her to the location and helped carry the stuff in, including the ballot books she was given. The site organizer came up and said "you've got all your stuff?", so I say "yeah, 200 ballots, with the boxes checked off in advance in support of the Communist Party". In return I get dead silence and this look from the old battleaxe that was so venomous it could have killed Dracula or Lauren Boebert. I slip/slided away as fast as I could after that.
Live and learn I suppose. Hope the joyless old bag doesn't take it out on my sister.
Yea, they do take their job seriously. Ray will likely be offline all day too.
The Communist Party didn't need my help. They'll probably get more votes in Calgary than the Liberals will anyway.
You should have done them for the Maverick Party. Opens the lead for the spoiler party, and gives Albertan Conservatives what they really deserve.
New T-Shirt idea - $600m for an election and all I got was this stubby pencil.
