Central Canada has generally run the show having most of the population.
Take a gander

Is this finally the naked face of the arrogance that has alienated the outlying provinces since time immeorial or righteous indignation?
I am leaning towards arrogant whiners but would love to hear opposing arguements:)

They're just looking for a deal, same as everybody else, Fred. The thing is that they are more likely to get it whether they deserve it or not because of the large number of seats in Ontario.
I think McGuinty might be hedging bets that the government may fall when the budget comes out. He's just getting it out there so he can push for a deal from both sides during the next campaign.
Dalton McGuinty just got nailed by a recent poll and He looking to place the blame on somebody else.It is what He has done since He first got elected and has kept that tradition.
Ontario is the most important Province to the Federal goverment and I think Rev is right when He said its just McGuinty trying to get a better deal.I don't think it will work to well McGuinty is not well liked right now.
I think Dan74 is right that McGuinty is using Ottawa as a scapegoat. It's an old Canadian tradition for premiers to always be bitching and whining about everything. Newfoundland premier Danny Williams recently used this tactic to great effect. Quebec has always used this tactic to great effect. Why wouldn't the other provinces?
I definitely don't approve of this but it isn't an example of central Canadian "arrogance". McGuinty isn't the only premier complaining about Newfoundland's (and Nova Scotia's) special deal with Ottawa. Last I heard, PEI, New Brunswick, and Saskatchewan were also carping about it.
Monkey See, Monkey Do...
Yup. Saskatchewan is most likely get left out in the cold though. Not a lot of chance of the Liberals gaining seats there.
Hi Guys,
Makes sence about the popularity thing and picking a scrap with Ottawa. I still think Williams is lower then whale shit at the bottom of the Marianas trench for taking down the flag. Well I type corrected folks. I think Martin should have tougher with Williams pour les autres. See I can spell badly in two languages. Whuny indeed.
Cheers

It isn't that those of us from Ontario are arrogant, it's just that we are better than the rest of you. However, it is mainly only those of us from Southern Ontario that have this view, the Northern part doesn't really count, like the rest of the country.
I'm just joking around. As far as getting $5 billion, hey what province wouldn't want that money, we just think we can ask for it more often.
You can ask for it more often. No government in its right mind wants to alienate Ontario. I don't think you'll get it this time though. I think Martin knows that Ontarians aren't going to be that alienated by not getting that $5 billion...at least not alienated enough to vote for Stephen Harper and his radical religious right buddies.
I think the Progressive Canadian Party will be a real party two elections from now though. Then you can ask for that $5 billion again.
