Labor Shortage Benefits Canada

There is no labor shortage, there is a wage gap. This gap is the difference between a realistic fair wage and the wage that the potential employer wants to pay. If economics was a legitimate science then the law of supply and demand would cause wages to rise until the wage was high enough to attract labourers, but this does not happen. Instead the exploiters demand that workers be imported from outside the country to fill the low paying jobs, or that social service payments be tied to work quotas of some sort. This undermines workers rights in this country and is an example of fascism, which is government in the service of corporations.

There is actually both. This is a BIG country. Compare unemployment in Victoria, BC, where call centres offer high starting wages, and a draw each month for a car for employees, and New Brunswick, which has a 'high' of 9% in the cities, and close to 25% in rural areas. ANd of course reserves and Newfoundland which have rates up to 50%.

SOME jobs have labour shortages, and some have plenty of workers to choose from. In some places in Ontario Tim Hortons offers benefits, in NB any time somebody mentions 'union', they are reminded of the hundreds of people who can fill that spot.
