Some comments about the article:

-----
The Israeli diplomat said he was troubled by the fact that Bloc Québécois Leader Gilles Duceppe attended a political demonstration in Montreal recently with supporters of Hezbollah, which is a banned terrorist group in Canada.
-----

On mans terrorist is another mans freedom fighter. Hezbollah was banned only after media disinformation generated public support for such a thing, followed by "pressure" from various so-called Jewish groups. There was even a threat of a "lawsuit" against the Canadian government unless the government officially listed all of Hezbollah as a terrorist organization under Canada's (un)Patriot Act.

So now it seems that if you side with Hezbollah, that under Canada's (un)Patriot Act, you could end up in a secret prison without charges for the rest of your life. The order for your arrest won't come from a Canadian official, but instead from a well paid lawyer working for one of those interventionist Jewish groups.

-----
The Bloc has done “irreparable damage” to its relations with the Jewish community, he said.
-----

The march was NOT against or even about the Canadian Jewish community, it was about obvious and undeniable war crimes committed by Israel against the people of Lebanon. It is always so amazing to see how any attack on Israel suddenly becomes a "Jewish issue" supposedly even among Canadian Jews who have never even been there.

What bothers me most, is that Canadian Jews do not appear to be standing up and denouncing the misuse of their name. Do they actually agree with this nonsense, or is it that they have lost their voice?

With thanks to Vive le Canada there is a platform on which investigations and views of North Americans can share with a broader audience.
It is with this in mind I see Vive as a giant brainstorm all be it with far stricter rules.
Even though some questions where the info is drawn from shrinks by the shear volume of information to which critical thought must be applied.
I speak for no one except myself and yet I see other voices raised by those who share in a search for honesty in what we have been taught.

I am beginning to see post that would have been considered anti Semitic and/or hate speech before Israel’s latest nonsense in the Mid East.
Some of us have done some digging into how Israel came about and who the players were in that little subterfuge.
I firmly believe there are factions existing in politics whop will use any means necessary to support the illusion of democracy until elected and then their tru colours start to show.
Harper is the example for Canada
I understand in Israel it is the Zionist faction.
The next revolution must be the revolution that creates a paradigm shift in thinking and to be straight with you I see little evidence of that happening in my life time.

Here is an interesting read:

A Spot Of Tea Lands Lebanese General In Tight Spot

A Lebanese general sits in jail today after committing a terrible crime -- having tea with an Israeli. During the military operation, the IDF captured his barracks and held Adnan Daoud and 350 of his men prisoner, but apparently did so rather informally. A videotape taken during the event shows Daoud drinking tea with the soldiers as both sides acted cordially:

A Lebanese general was ordered arrested Wednesday for appearing in a videotape drinking tea with IDF soldiers who had occupied his south Lebanon barracks during their incursion of the country.
Adnan Daoud was summoned and ordered held for questioning, Interior Minister Ahmed Fatfat said in a statement. Daoud is commanding officer of the 1,000-strong joint police-army force that had positions in southern Lebanon and was based in Marjayoun.

IDF troops seized the barracks there last week and held him and 350 soldiers for a day before allowing them to leave the occupied zone. The Lebanese garrison, which is lightly armed, did not resist the Israeli force which moved in armor into the base.

In the videotape, aired on Israeli television and carried by a Lebanese TV station Wednesday, Daoud was shown having tea with smiling Israeli soldiers and walking with them in the base courtyard.

"He was very polite with me," Daoud said of his first encounter with an Israeli colonel in this conflict or any other. It most likely will be the last.

Daoud finds himself in jail not for fraternization, but for exposing the real nature of the war. Israel had no beef with the kind of military police force Daoud commanded. In fact, Israel wants to have precisely these kinds of forces across their northern border, rather than the Hezbollah terrorists that have held the territory for years. That is why Israeli soldiers treated Daoud so chivalrously.

The Siniora government cannot afford to have the Lebanese see the Israelis treating the LA well, however, at least not while Hassan Nasrallah is still in charge. It interferes with the preferred terrorist narrative that the Israelis committed a war of aggression on Lebanon instead of a war against the terrorists that committed a casus belli in the first place. If Israel treats Lebanese people in a friendly manner, then the Lebanese people will wonder why they need Hezbollah protecting them from the IDF.

It shows that the Siniora government still finds itself hostage to the terrorists and their propaganda. Unfortunately, Daoud is the type of officer who could help establish peace and work with the Israelis to make further wars unnecessary. That also conflicts with the aims of Hezbollah and their masters in Damascus and Teheran. Daoud's tea tour will likely make him into a martyr for radicalism.
Jeff, if you want to believe that all the destruction brought by Israel on the Palestinian people and now the Lebanese is just sham, it's your right.
Just so you know though. If my child had been crushed under the rubble of a building bombed by those people, I too would want to show the body of that dead child to as many media persons as possible if that is what it takes to awaken the Western world to the barbarity perpetrated by Israel not only on its neighbours but on the whole Humankind.

SphinxMontreal @ Thu Aug 17, 2006 8:14 pm

What nerve! Until we get some real strong leadership in this country, this is the kind of crap Canadians will have to continue dealing with.

The sad ironic truth is that Duceppe, a Quebec separatist, is standing up for and protecting Canadian interests more than Harper, who is selling this country down the river at an alarmingly fast rate.

FootPrints @ Thu Aug 17, 2006 8:43 pm

I agree! We should start begging for Duceppe to run for Prime Minister of Canada. Forget separation. He'd get my vote. I almost feel like giving him my vote anyway and then move there. I've long said this guy the type of person we need to get our country back on track.

Israel is not a state and should not be negotiated with as such until it stops the brutal attacks, human rights abuses and theft of land. That our Government would be a part of what EVERYONE else in the world knows is an illegal occupation, a Government that ignores human rights, ignores the UN and International Law, amazes me. What is happening to our Country?

We should not be paying for what the Government in Israel has done. Canadian money should not be spent helping Israel demolish cities and slaughter innocent people.

I'm finally beginning to realize and sympathize with the Quebec separatists. It seems they saw the sellout of Canada to evil interests coming well in advance.

Someone should ask the Israeli Rep what Israel plans to do for Canada in return? There are more Canadians living in poverty today than ever before and this whackjob wants Canadians to spend tax dollars on an entity that most Canadians don't give a rat's ass about.

Can't wait for Harper to bend over and comply - effectively putting another nail in his coffin.

PS: Did you see where Harper approved $25 Million aid for Lebanon? What's this all about? First he supports Israel bombing the shit out of the place and now he's giving money to try and win back the Lebanese vote.

This guy wasn't kidding when he said he wanted a transparent government. It doesn't take a genius to see right through him.
