A beer that i started liking was this one:

"LA MAUDITE!"

In November 1992 Maudite (the damned one), was the first strong beer to be distributed in Quebec grocery stores. It contains 8 % alcohol and is also the first beer brewed in America that improves with age. When served young, it is very smooth, but when served after several years of storage, its flavour is reminiscent of port. Maudite is a mahogany-colored, rich-tasting premium beer that has a distinctive, complex taste. Because of the warmth it releases, this strong character beer must be served cool but not cold. Perfect with pasta, red meats, stews and spicy dishes, it also makes a good aperitif and after-dinner drink.

Maudite has a typically Quebecois name that is reminiscent of the legend of the Chasse-Galerie (the legend of the Flying Canoe). Legend has it that a group of lumberjacks struck a deal with the devil to fly home in their canoes, guided by Satan himself, to make it home in time for Christmas.

Clancy's Amber Ale from NB is my regular choice. Brewed by the Moosehead company, it's a little more fuller bodied than the staple Blue/Kieth's most popular around here. I tend towards the red ales if I'm feeling like a change of scenery.

Doesn't La Maudite and La fin de Monde have warning labels on them to not to drink the bottom of the bottle??

Sorry boys and girls but not one of those store bought brands can compare to the most astonishingly clear, clean, no preservative brews that I make in my basement! Anywhere from 5 to 11% with absolutely no after taste and very little hangover.(Relative, of course, to how much I drink :D )

Yea, it's pretty good. ALthough, I got one little question. They came out with Sleeman's Clear. Is that a good beer?

Patrick_Ross @ Tue May 31, 2005 3:34 pm

Sorry. I haven't tried it.
...The thing about Sleeman's is that a lot of bars apparently don't realize taht it's a domestic beer, so they charge import prices for it.
