It appears to be giving karma to those of you who are visiting today. This is definitely a good thing. It won't necessarily give anyone enough to vote, especially if you go and spend it all elsewhere. Woot.

what is all this karma for? what happens when i get lots of karma?

Karma is mainly for tracking who is a nice friendly user and who is a troll or otherwise breaks the rules. It also allows people to filter the crap comments out, so that we have a higher quality of discussion. Having lots of karma means that you are appreciated by the community, and you will get the chance to vote on other people's comments and further promote good behaviour.

You can read more in the FAQ:
http://www.vivelecanada.ca/forum/viewtopic.php?forum=34&showtopic=11933&lastpost=true

Whoops.

Too bad though. It could be an example of what the readership thinks are good methods of debate and decorum. Or, in some cases, bad examples
