Liberal-Free,

Let's take a look at what the conservatives think is good.

In the New Conservative World If taking a enviromental step means jobs lost, then don't take that enviromental step. Keep the jobs and turn your back to the enviromental issue. Jobs, jobs are great. But its this idea that brings us to a point in the future where we wonder where we went wrong. That's the New-Conservative Path. "I don't even like calling them conservatives cause that's not what they really are."

I remember having a conversation in a group of pc youths before the merge, who were also supporting the merge. I asked them; "If there was an opportunity to create a 1000 jobs knowing that those jobs will also mean serious enviromental issues 10 years from now, would you still go for the jobs?" The answer amongst these conservative supporters was YES. I wonder if these are the kinds of youth that are attracted to the party, could it be the party reflects exactly what they attract?

The fact that Mr. Harper is attracted to U.S style of government/ Bush then one can only come to the conclusion that Mr. Harper will soon share the same record as Bush on enviromental issues. They care about the corporate interest, nothing more. Its not who they stand for, its who show's them the money to get them elected.

Kevin

George Bush has a report by the Pentagon warning that climate change will soon be a much greater threat than terrorism could ever be:

http://observer.guardian.co.uk/international/story/0,6903,1153513,00.html

George Bush and Stephen Harper are the obvious choice for any good evangelical Christian voter. No problem that they'll leave the world to self-destruct from the greenhouse effect. They firmly believe that Christ will return and save them and all their fellow believers, leaving the rest of us to live out our days in the hell on earth left behind. Who needs the Kyoto accord? God will save anyone worthy of being saved. So much for separation of church and state. These guys are the most dangerous kinds of leaders, letting their faith override the evidence in front of them.

I don't think the Conservatives look at jobs, they look at what it would cost the corporation to clean up their act and then they sell it to the public with the claim that jobs will be lost. If your dead from pollution what good is a job to you? If your little boy or little girl has cancer caused by pollution what good is a job, will it make you feel better? Are you better off if you have a job and are helping to destroy the ecological system?

To hell with the corporations if they can't clean their acts up. Get rid of them and their shareholders. This BS about Kyoto being flawed is contemptible. The corporations have been whittling away at it, destroying it piece by piece, hiring pseudo scientists to slander the science behind it and generally hurling smoke all over the place. These business men never take responsibility for the messes they make, they leave it for the public to suffer with until they finally drag the politicians by the scruff of the neck to start cleaning up the mess. I say no more limited liability for corporations. Sue them into the ground when they make a mess and then go after the shareholders.

That is a good post eternal. This reminds me of something that happen today.

This guy John Cornelson I've know for quite a few years now. When I first met him he didn't come off as very religious, he was very business oriented when I met him. Actually he owned his own business. We got along really well talking about business and health. Health we talked about cause we both took natural supplements and both believed in them.

Well about a month ago I had a conversation with him, this after about year of not talking to him. And wow everything this guy said to me to make a point was in a religious tone. Everything had to do with god, jesus and religion no matter what he told me. It literally sounded like preaching that you would hear from someone going door to door. Now I'm not degrading anyone that does this, but just trying to explain how our conversation went.

That day we talked about politics. Politics turned into a discussion where we couldn't agree with eachother too much. It was clear from the start that he was a supportor of Mr. Harper and the New Conservatives. Actually he openly admited to being a Reform Party supporter. We couldn't agree on much, but I truly tried to find common ground with this guy.

Anyways, today I'm driving by the NDP office and I notice this guy standing outside talking to one of the campaign coordinators who's name is Bill. It was John Cornelson. I went around the block and decided to go to the office and make my presence known there.

As I drove up to the office I notice he had information material regarding the NDP. I knew he was up to something, still not sure what. I guess he could be truly interested in the NDP, but I high dought that. So I go towards the office to enter the building, saying hello to him as I open the door and he does a quick glance with a hello. He had this shame look on his face as he seen me walking into the office. Normally he would be much more friendly and open to talking with me.

I waited in the office for Bill to come in so I can discuss with him things I knew about this guy. As soon as he walked in he said for the record NDP people were known as the "Demons" in this election. Reffering to something this guy said to him outside during their conversations.

What I'm starting to learn is some Christians are totally against anything to do with human rights. They don't think we should have as many rights as the Liberal and NDP believe we should. I'm really starting to believe that this New Conservative Party judging by the people they attract, will change the Charter of Rights.

When I look back in history I see wars that are directly related to religion, power and greed. When I look at the path of these right wingers I see that they will bring more wars with religion, power and greed.

I guess the reason why he didn't give me the welcoming he would normally give when we met up with eachother, is because now I'm a "demon". Gez, don't they like to label EH?

Kevin

Good post Milton. Maybe what we need is a world wide movement of people shopping at good business places. Stop shopping at all shops that use bad business.

Kevin

Kevin, I agree with your take on the cons, especially the religious zealot side, the problem I see with this is that they and they alone will judge the world, and if you look at many of those, historically, that scream the loudest about the rest of us sinners, take Jerry Falwell and co., the moral majority b.s. from the U.S.etc.; they want their cake and eat it too, they want the money and then dictate what is right and wrong. Harper isn't saying much and this leads me to fear...if your message is 'right' why wouldn't you proclaim it?

True Christians don't hide from the message, and they don't try to shove it down anyone's throat. Also how can a Christian equate it is right to continue to pollute the environment just because we can, waste and destruction are not Christian values, and these hi-jackers really make me ill.

I once new a person like you describe Kevin, they said that they could do anything they wanted to in this life, because Jesus died for them and they were automatically going to heaven, so nothing they did here really mattered. If that is what the cons believe and promote we are all in for big problems.

Looks like some voters did vote strategically and voted Liberal on election day. Too bad the NDP has to loose seats out of fear mongering by the Liberals.
