The one man who seems to support law and order is attacked by

-Lawyers for the Liiberal government
-Natives
-OPPs

Precisely it seems the people who in this case are more interested in appeasement, than upholding law & order in this case.

Let me see if I can clarify this for you hyperweevil:

- Haudenosaunee of Six Nations assert Aboriginal Title by reclaiming the Haldimand tract

- Judge David Marshall (thinks he) owns HUGE acreage in the Haldimand Tract.

- Judge David Marshall orders them off the land.

- Ontario Court of Appeals, without even having to refer to his OBVIOUS conflict of interest, finds so may errors in law in his orders that they refer to him as "Judge Roy Bean"

Read my post above on your....er....reporter. Seems that its a possilbity thats he;s drunken the kool-aid alongside yourself.

Bias Bias Bias - possibly

Ill let other people around here make thier own judgments

It would be impossible to appear unbiased in writing about those proceedings ... because there is and was no defence for the judge's actions.

"Let's assume -- as I believe to be the case -- that the contempt proceedings were deeply flawed . . ." Judge Laskin said late in the day,

Stay tuned to the news tonight!! and the final ruling of the Court of Appeals, but it's a slam dunk.

Judge Marshall will have to fina another way to protect his own land. Obviously, the court of appeals does not think very highly of him for using his power of the court to illegally try to protect his personal interests.

In which case you own bias is clear

I have never hid my bias. I am a Six Nations supporter.

And you, of course have no bias at all

Wait for the decision of the Court of Appeal ;)

Wait for a conservative majority government.

Natives just got a taste of today with the new round of budget cuts. My thinking its going to get better - for the tax payer anyways.

and my Bias is that Canadians - all canadians are equal. Not entitled to special right because of the pigment of thier skin and a tale of bogus 'oral history'

They are not Canadians. Sounds like you are not a supporter of the Constitution ... that's odd

Harper's majority ... they only place he might get a majority is playing marbles with his kids ... and only then if he cheats !!
Majority ... ppphhhhhhttt ... 70% of Canadians think he's dangerously nuts, and that is increasing rapidly!

sucks to be you hyperweevil!

Hey ... are you guys haviing a nice duel?

Enjoy!

Yep. Our duel is really more of a wager. Arky wants to see if I can separate your head from your neck at 1,500 meters and I'm willing to demonstrate if you're willing to stand in a suitable open space somewhere. You need not stand still, but it hurts less if you do.

Where are you getting your figures? Is there a dangerously nuts poll? Anyway most put the Tories right now at 39%-41%. This is despite being unpopular in Quebec at the moment and being committed to the Afghanistan mission. If nothing really goes wrong or any major scandal before the next election I could see the Tories back in power maybe a majority or at least gain some more seats. I think the Tories mean well I like them better than when the liberals were in power. Why do people vote for the grits anyway?

I assume that is their own polls?

I am talking about independent polls ... which currently run around 30% and falling. No one likes a bully. No one likes THEIR representatives (MP's) being told to keep their mouths shut. Right now we have a one man government ... if he get's a majority (highly unlikely) that's called a dictatorship. Harper is most comfortable in a totalitarian system ... as long as he's the boss!

Old time 'progressive' conservatives find him scary ... they heard it all from Hitler before.

I am talking about independent polls (meaning polls that are run by people whose biases I like) ... which currently run around 30% and falling. No one likes a bully (except me. I like bullies who beat up old ladies at illegal barricades). No one likes THEIR representatives (MP's) being told to keep their mouths shut. Right now we have a one man government ... if he get's a majority (highly unlikely) that's called a dictatorship (see, a dictatorship is what I call it when democracy doesn't work the way I dictate it to). Harper is most comfortable in a totalitarian system (which explains why Harper ran for PM in Canada because we all know what a repressive, totalitarian state Canada is)... as long as he's the boss (of a party so fractured that it could almost be its very own coalition)!

Old time 'progressive' conservatives find him scary ... they heard it all from Hitler before (who was a socialist).

Yeah, saga, some of us can read between your lines.

That is appalling, the Conflick of Interest just reeks off this Judge why didn't he remove himself from the bench? Bloody hell, that is just wrong. Small town corruption or what?

Scrappy, you are a gem!

Exactly.

The Haudenosaunee told him at the time of the injunction hearing or whatever that they were claiming the whole Haldimand Tract, and he was in conflict of interest and should "recuse" himself. There was a kafuffle of consultation, the judge left for a few minutes, and he came back in and said NO. He has been having hissy fits like that all summer ... called them back to explain why they hadn't carried out HIS order. He kinda forgot that it is the OWNER's injunction, not his own. Cripes, he wouldn't have recused himself even if they were occupying HIS land ... estate on the bank of the river (Hm ... must be within six miles!)

Here's a babble discussion about it:

BABBLE discussion of Judge Marshall's conflict of interest

And ... of course ... the owner is now Ontario, and it is the Attorney General who is appealing ... so they have been lambasting him aaaall day in the Court of Appeals !!

Too fucking bad they didn't think to check him out in March

Independent Polls
I got it from this website which has a bunch of sources. Also they have gone up in the polls not down despite some controversial issues so people do support them. I don't think the government is a dictatorship I'm not sure where you are getting this idea. Over all I’m satisfied with their performance they seem to have done mostly everything they said they would do.

I guess I haven't checked in the last month, I wouldn't count on holding that 39%, though. It looks like an 'outlier' to me. Time will tell, I suppose.

I find it quite disturbing that Stephen Harper won't let his MP's speak to the media ... it's a one man show. That has never happened before in my loooooong memory. I find it creepy.

I should clarify:
Traditional Haudenosaunee people do not want to be Canadians. They have been the Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) Confederacy for a thousand years, and the Confederacy is again the leadership at Six Nations and recognized by the federal government as the negotiators of the land claims. This is a great victory for them, since the Confederacy was outlawed by Canada in 1924.

There are plenty of native people who are Canadians and like it that way.

There are also traditional Indigenous people who want to be independent of Canada.

SIGH """ GET YOUT TIMELINE STRAIGHT

AFTER THE INJUNCTION and after the OPP attack April 20 about 5 am.

So ... Judge Marshall's law is taking a shitkicken and summary contempt convictions may be overturned.

And all of that was unnecessary, and a violation of their right to assert Aboriginal title under the constitution. And all of that is what caused the violence in Caledonia. Haudenosaunee defend, they do not attack, but hotterheads (and unwelcome visitors) did escalate two incidents where injuries occurred. There is evidence in both cases that no Haudenosaunee was responsible for the injuries incurred.

... and Judge Marshall won' be running Haldimand County any more!
