People of Glenavon have acceded to closure of their school. In this community controversy regards where children will be educated next year; for though Prairie South School Division deemed Momarte suitable replacement; some parents prefer Wolseley, since Wolseley uses a four day school week. Such debate exists, not only following closure of a school, but anywhere the service of schools varies: parents seek school choice.

School choice can be achieved though school vouchers, simply these are certificates which pay to the cost of educating children at a public school, they can be used to pay for private schools, corporate run schools, co-op run schools, or to any public school. Parents of Glenavon who wish to have a four day school week would send their children to Wolsey those who want a five day week or find Momarte more convenient send their children there. If enough children go to Wolsey, Momarte would have to introduce a four day school week to retain students and thus funding.

Saskatchewan is in a transition and changes to our school system need to be made; such is ongoing, but so long as parents are included in these changes, and power is given to parents, these changes will help Saskatchewan. School choice through school vouchers will help Saskatchewan.
