I think the provinces (minus quebec) are loyal to Canada.

I'm not and I'm not required to be.

Maybe not completely soverign, but some form of self-government is almost inevitable, especially in my neck of the woods where FN are coming up to 40/50% of the population in the next 15 to 20 years. Whether that's a seperate state, or the province becoming a defacto state because of FN voting, I dunno. Aren't the Territories a defacto, FN state already?
Either way, the problem is - what do you do with all the non FN people?

I'm sure that one or more of our First Nations activists will come up with some sort of reserve process for the rest of us. Either that or the ports will become rather busy as they deport us all. LMAO

Ideally if aboriginal treaty rights could be ended either provinces or dominos could have a legal system based on first nation’s legal traditions but conforming to the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, including the right to vote for MLA’s and run in the Legislature. I think as long as the rights of the charter are respected and there is a working government all residents should be able to live under a first nations system.

The idea of soverign First Nations states within Canada is a sticky situation. Just based on the locations of these First Nations the very idea of soverign nations would destroy Canada. We would turn into a miny Europe with a bunch of small soverign states surrounded by provinces. I agree that First Nations should have some sort of self-government but I think it should be based more along the lines of municipalities allowing them to raise funds through local taxation.

Well that would be the case in dominons or provinces where there is a non- aborigenal majority, I just was thinking this would be a way to solve more of the self-governemtn issues. BTW soverignty would apply to all provinces and would be on the US model.

I think at the beginning around 500 years ago. It was cool to have Whites to come in and share the land with us. But now the reserve NDNS are pretty angry . I don't know why.

Biblical_Christian @ Mon Jan 29, 2007 6:22 pm

Actually NDNs are pretty loyal ppl. They never forget a favor. They don't .Do we wanna kick you off? I don't believe so.

BC..I totally agree with you about the loyalty of the Canadian natives. There were countless natives that volunteered for the Armed Forces and got screwed by the government upon their return. I honestly think that a vast majority of natives truly love this country and would defend it to the death as so many have in the past.

Yeah, but to some or most. They have learned. LIfe goes on.
