This one is kinda important for the West as he is considered far more flexible than the current regime and is likely to actually work towards a nuclear settlement.

Public_Domain Public_Domain:
Oh yeah, Iran is a democracy

One of of the best ones not located in the Americas or Europe.

*snicker* ......wait a second, you're being serious....... 8O........ Yeah Marty, I'm thinking the same thing too  He likely thinks that the democratic in People's Democratic Republic of Korea, means they're living in a real workers paradise.

Australia, Argentina, Brazil, New Zealand, Japan, Taiwan, South Korea. Israel and even South Africa come to mind well before Iran, where people have to be vetted by a bunch evil Santas before they are allowed to run for office. Rubber stamped candidates....yeah real democracy  .

And, in other news, Kruschev replaces Stalin. Same shit, different day. We'll still wipe the Little Satan off the map but we'll try to be more cuddly about it for the next four years.

Hey come on now this is a huge victory for our diplomatic effort *laughs so hard I start snorting* sorry I tried to say that with a serious face. I'll let some White House spokesperson say it with a straiter face.

To bad he won't be allowed to by the Ayatollah's and hardliners.

Hopefully it makes some positive difference. Even if he isn't an idiot saying the stupid things that whatshisname used to say, that would be welcome. Of course the big question is what this means regarding the Nuclear Program.

If you mean something like shutting down the entire program (which has been the US demand that keep breaking down negotiations), no, he wouldn't be allowed, but he would be more open to letting in inspections which help prove then are not after nukes.

Yeah, that's how it comes off. "He's a moderate!" the media proclaims, while absolutely nothing will change. I'll take this wonderful claims of his moderate-ness once Iran stops funding Hezbollah.

Any Iranian cleric taking over their presidency is still the equivalent of Fred Phelps being elected to the White House. The new guy might be significantly less odious than Mamoud was but he'll still be a servant of the revolutionary religious councils.

or as I like to call them the Society of Evil Santas

Because Iranian clerics are famous for being so flexible.
