btw, I believe the city I am living in has the highest housing price , you can't find a decent housing for <$800,000 in Vancouver. I kind of doubt house price in other city will surprise me anymore.
Do you have to live in the actual city? Because the suburbs are a lot less, both here and there.
I actually live in a suburb city of Vancouver, Surrey, 1 hour commute to Vancouver to work each way every day when weather is good. you can't find a decent house in Surrey for less than $500,000. for the houses build after 90s, you are looking at least $550,000 or above $600,000.
You would love our house prices! For 550 000 you could get 2500 sq feet , double garage in a very nice community with a half hour commute to downtown by car or 45min to an hour by transit (save big bucks on downtown parking). 400 still buys a nice house on the same block!

That sounds really appealing, on top of the job opportunities.
You won't believe the frustration we experienced with looking for jobs when we first moved to vancouver 9 years ago, to this date, I still have nightmare about the deep fear of losing jobs.
Thanks!

I am seriously looking at moving to Calgary, but need some advices and insights.
I am currently working in an IT outsourcing company in BC, and my husband works in a Casino. I am happy with my job but my husband is not, he is desperate in changing job. The problem is, his English is not good and he has no special skills.
I have heard Alberta's job marketing is booming and need all sorts of people... except IT. I also heard Alberta is not for visible minorities. I hope those are just rumors.
Will Calgary be a choice for my family? can I find a relatively stable job in IT field there? what kind of job my husband can expect? and what the family income will be?
Your advice is really appreciated!
Thanks!
Its really bad sometimes to work somewhere when you are not quite sure about how long you can continue with this. Before
Fort Mcmurray I also experienced such problems in USA. So I decided to relocate in Canada.
