Ok I'm pimping the gym that I go to. I go there 3 times a week. Tuesday and Thursday for the kickboxing classes and on Sunday just to work out. If you're in the city (Edmonton)...check it out. It's got the "Rocky" Feel for it.

Heck if you want a good workout or maybe some kickboxing lessions..just let me know, i can teach you the basics.

I know some...

But if you want to teach me some street self defence that would be cool. The more skills the merrier.

Got my first belt at about 14 years of age,my mentor told me if someone come's at you with a knife run. Whats with those knuckle push ups anyways? That supposed to make you tough or just your knuckle's?

Just toughens the knuckles and your hands. Since we do a lot of punchs to the head, and the head is a hard target, we need to toughen up our hands. And we only do the push up on the first two knuckles since when we punch, we only hit with our frist two knuckles.

I remember the instructor telling us how to land a blow,my bud wound up and broke his nose, guess that's why I never made it past the first belt.

The instructor kept saying "kick" "Kick"..........boo boo punched him in the head and knocked him out. I guess you had to be there.

Dad and bro's were all marine's,those guy's could scrap,so could boo boo.

What a crappy instructor...encourging you to knock out another student? Bad form.

I always had a fascination with Tai Chi because it was simple , was trained in jujitsu but it was never very effective in a brawl so I relied mostly on street fighhting or whatever it takes but learned it can all help but doesn't always work so I'm with Ziggy on this one ....run

Those well trained military boys are the toughest bunch for sure because they use the best methods from all or many self defense programs .
