NDP dumps candidate for making racist comments

I doubt you've been in a classroom since your high school graduation
I'll take that as a complement! I did graduate high school but I skipped my graduation to get on a Hercules and fly the fuck out of here.

I'm certain that your classmates were grateful for your service and deeply appreciative of your absence.

Did you know there are Native professionals, doctors, lawyers, businessmen, teachers, dentists and so forth? Generally these people DO NOT live on the reserve because there is no market for their skills out there (there are exceptions probably mostly teachers).
Why aren't these people standing up and demanding change? Surely they are the stories that would inspire fellow Natives.

Because they get called apples by their fellow natives. And maybe they just see themselves as Canadians, rather than a special group. If I recall correctly, unemployment among off reserve natives is actually lower than the national average. That's the whole point - leave your reserve, get a job and you too can have a decent life.
But many of those FN professionals are still entitled to special benefits. Not because they need them, just because the color of their skin.

What type of person makes fun of their own people having success in life? So backwards.
Instead of learning from them or being inspired to do more, they sit back and poke fun from the comfort of their moldy shack.

Actually they do.

Obviously if kids have others who they identify with then they can use them as role models. Hopefully those people are educated professionals, athletes and entrepreneurs and not gangsters, rappers and drug dealing welfare bums.

Because the agreements we signed with them are legal and binding. Just because you feel like you got a bad deal, you can't change the deal unilaterally. Well you could but then you'd have to show up in court, pay your expenses, pay their expenses and get your ass handed to you by the judge.
If you live in Canada you are covered by treaty too, and that treaty gives you the right to live in one of the best fucking places in the world and take part in one of the top performing economies on the planet and allows you to live better than 95% of the rest of the population of the world.
Serenity now dude.

And yet, a lot of FN reserves live like the other 5%.
Action, not serenity.

Van Ryswyk announced today she'll run as an Independent.
Yuppp. I laughed out loud at that one. What a ballsy woman. Heard from some friends in the Okanagan that she's known for being not exactly electable and a bit of a nutjob.
I actually know a few first nations peoples who make it a point to act "white" because they hate their own people and heritage that much.
All of them are from reserves in BC, Saskatchewan and the Territories.
It's that bad.
A lot of them get berated by their fellow natives for being "apples". Had one friend who is status and left the reserve and has no desire to go back. Lost a lot of his hometown friends and has mostly white friends now.
BC FN groups tend to be of a different cut then in the prairies though...at least I find. Manitoba is a tinder box waiting to boil over.

Good for her.
We as a province can always use a few more batshit crazy, Farrah Fawcett haired, chubby chick, business women who, through a lack of basic intellect make self destructive comments on a media they obviously don't really understand.
Why does the term "digital divide" comes to mind when I think of Ms Van Rsyswyk
This is really sad since she would have made one hell of a Deputy Premier or talk show host had someone just listened.
The NDP fired someone over racist comments? That's hilarious considering the NDP(and Liberals to a degree) are HIGHLY racist parties to begin with.
Yeah, I know, they act like champions of equality but the reality is, their racism is tied up in language made to look like they're doing ethnic groups a favour.
Let me clarify my point. In Canada we have Indo-Canadians, Asian-Canadians, Sino-Canadians etc etc. It's even gotten to the point where we even hyphenate religious groups ie: Muslim-Canadian. Now, while there are German-Canadians, Italian-Canadains, British-Canadians and etc, you'll notice there's no official hyphentated designation. And in 46 years, I've NEVER heard the media or govt stoolies refer to anyone as "Christian-Canadian".
Seems to me, the only people utterly preoccupied with a person's race, creed or religion and insisting they be identified as such would be bigots and racists.
