Many Canadians are fed up with shrinkflation. So what's being done about it?

'It hasn't delivered': The spectacular failure of self-checkout technology

$1:
The frustration mounts while a dozen darkened, roped-off and cashier-less tills sit in the background.

That's my biggest frustration with self-checkouts - stores put in 10 or 20 tills, yet only have a handful up and running.

Like WTF? Put another person there so they can all be running and I can get in and out for my damned milk, instead of waiting for five minutes. F$%king greedy corporations...

They won't, because the union rules mean they can only bring in cashiers for a 4 hour minimum shift, but the rush hour crush only lasts 2. Can't be paying people to stand around!

Not at the outrageous union rates they get.
Why after 15 years they get a whole $20 an hour!
That's a whole 20% more than the least money they can legally pay you.

Grocery stores will start people at the 2000 hour pay rate to make it seem like a better job, but that also means you don't get the scheduled raises for 3 -4 years.

When you qualify for the pay bump, they will make your life difficult until you quit.

Ungraded beef' from Mexico is showing up on store shelves. Here is what you need to know.

I recall when Superstore used F grade top sirloins to make it's 'extra lean' ground meat. It was purple. Literally, the last grade meat they could sell to humans.

What could go wrong if it's ungraded? VjCD?

From the article:

Hungary and South Korea will soon join Brazil in mandating companies note on packaging when they shrink a product. France is aiming to follow suit.

Now contains 25% less of whatever shit we are selling you for the same price!

Seriously though, how can the Government possibly regulate the hundreds of food manufacturers to stop decreasing the size of their thousands of products?

There is a brand of soap I have bought, that has a label "New!" on it for the last 10 years. All that changed was it got smaller.

Corporate pressure led Shoppers Drug Mart staff to bill unnecessary medication reviews, pharmacists say

This is why I stopped shopping there. They did a 'review' every 6 months, which is the maximum they would get paid for. During the review, I kept pointing out things that were inaccurate, or wrong. They changed nothing.

This told me they really didn't care about my health. When they signed me up for automatic refills without my consent - making me subject to their privacy policy that I didn't agree with - that was the last straw.

Also, Alberta's privacy commissioner also didn't give a shit they they violated my privacy like that, by giving my medical records to Loblaws without my OK.

Condiment 'bottles' aren't much more than squeeze tubes now.

Yesterday I noticed in the bakery section SaveOn had a sign $8.49 and the box had ONE apple fritter in it. Bu someone ad hand written $1.80 on the see thru part of the box.
They fixed it. Today you get a box of 4 on sale for $8.49, about 32¢ more apiece than singles were yesterday.
And being the start of the sales week, there were empty shelves reserved for all their internet advertised deals for when and if they ever get them.
