More of the big red machine doing what it does best....covering it's ass. Liberals will do anything, say anything, be anything, and wear silly hats if that's what it takes to stay in power. Maneuvers such as the late night vote to stay afloat do indeed make us look like a banana republic. Billions of dollars misspent. Billions more unaccounted for. Millions slid into the pocket of friends. No wonder writers use terms like "Soviet Canuckistan". Can't blame em.
And still the sheeple re-elect them.

Jaime_Souviens @ Mon Jun 27, 2005 3:02 pm

"When push comes to shove, the Liberals will make any deal with anybody," Stephen Harper said after the vote. "And it doesn't matter whether it's with the socialists or with the separatists or any bunch of crooks they can find. That's how they govern the country."

Oh, come on, Steve, you got to admit, it is kinda funny...

Just relax, now. Have a brew, and get ready for the Fall.

Words fail me too... Quite the piece of work, that "Don Quixote" . He needs to get a life...

You gotta wonder about anyone who would expend so much time and energy on that blog - what's this unhealthy obsession some Americans have about Canada just because Canada doesn't always behave like some docile little colony :?:

At first I thought this was a joke, but after scrolling down and down and down, I'm not so sure. I guess that's the only way for Canada to get any interest these days is to stand up for ourselves and make our own decisions, even if it runs contrary to our Anglo allies. C'est la vie

"Some Americans" have an unhealthy obsession about Canada?

Checking demographics....

Here's the current statistics on what Americans think of Canada:

1) Nice place north of the border. 15%

2) Canada, what's that? 35%

3) Don't we own it? 20%

4) You mean that Eskimo country? 20%

5) The country with the passive aggressive and condescending attitudes towards America? 9.999999%

6) I have an unhealthy obsession with Canada. 0.000001% and that's just hwacker.

(Just teasing you, hwacker!)

Hey Bart, it seems that it is many more Canadians who have an unhealthy fixation with the U.S. than Americans with Canada.

It's the elephant and the mouse paradigm (no insult to Canada mind you).

The mouse damn well better pay attention to where the elephant steps, lays down, and poops.

The elephant barely notices the existence of the mouse, if at all.

Canadians are painfully aware of the USA. Most Americans outside of the border states are fairly oblivious to anything outside of their own little world and care only about what's on TV.

America has a crushing influence on Canada and Americans are unaware of the sizable influence Canada has on the USA.

The sheer volume of Canadians in the American news media and entertainment industry is stunning. And the numbers of Canadians who work in the USA is likewise unbelieveable.

But you never notice the Canadians because they blend in. Mexicans, on the other hand, make no effort to assimilate except after multiple generations in the USA so we are much more aware of their presence.

I guess one of the reasons I like Canada so much is because I feel at home there. And I take great pains to leave America at home when I visit.

I spent 10 years in Texas and many of the first genration mexicans blend quite well. It's the older one's who have a difficult time adjusting. My mother, Cuban, arrived in the states in 69' and still speaks with broken english yet can write at a university level in english. It boggles my mind. The only accent I'm ever accused of having is a mid-western Chicago draw, as in I say," Chicagoe". It's pretty funny.

Point taken. I was shocked at the amount, and selective I may add, of how much the Canadian media fixates on American politics and society. The bottom line is that the elephant is more liberal and more conservative than Canada. The nuances are startling.

CubanTexan @ Wed Jul 13, 2005 1:53 pm

Bottom line , I love Canadians, I married one. But man, get over your christophobia. Some dimbulb told me he would support the liberals no matter how corrupt because he's afraid of Christians, i.e., the Conservatives. I spent some time searching for the hole in his head, then I realized there was nothing in there to begin with.

Yeah, and they stomp the beejeezus out of the mice when they get scared.

Scaring an elephant is all good fun until you get dead.
