But still, Canada does appear to be much safer 
Except for rape...
Rape is based on when it is reported, or not. Rape is still very taboo in most fo the US, and people are overwhelmingly afraid to report it when they've been raped.
Not to say that rape victims in Canada almost report the crime, people over all in Canada have alot more confidence in the justice system then Americans.
Basides, its a well known fact for any scholar that rape crime statics always half to be viewed with an added ''Cultural'' value.

This arguement would be valid, but there are statistics to verify if such a claim is more valid in the US then it is in Canada. The US has a 4 percent lead in confidence in reporting crimes to the police, so if anything crime in general is more taboo to report in canada.
So it has very little to do with some massive difference between our cultures.
