All I am trying to mention, is just that the Canadian government should stop promoting Anti-Americanism in Canada (And hopefully we will be able to expect that from Harper), and I just want the Canadians to show some more respect for the Americans. America defended Canada during the Cold war, and what the US gets is Paul Martin's whine? That's horrible!!!!

but oh well, it's all ok now. Because Harper is on, and I believe he will do great. For both countries, Canada and the United States.
PROTECT US FROM WHAT!?!?!? You were the one at war with russia! Fuck russia wouldn't attack us during the cold war, we were more worried about you then ourselves! So some respect? Why the fuck don't you try it? Promoting Anti-Americanism? Listen, I am not a fan of Martin, but I don't think he did that. Stop making up shit.

$1:
Well, that's a common sense. and that's not my point!!!!!!!!!
So what the fuck is your point you twat?

$1:
am I wrong?!??!
YES!!!

ok, since you are pretty young, I will understand those words that you used.

And well, it looks like you really don't know why the U.S. had to defend Canada too. The U.S. was afraid of the Soviets' nuclear attack, so it was America's duty to defend North America from the Soviet Union. But well? Canada also helped America too, so don't be so mad. Think about the NORAD(uh, I hope you know what it is)

and my point? I told you like 1000000000000000000000000000000000 times already......just stop promoting Anti-Americanism. And what do you mean Paul Martin didn't? Do you follow all the news? Are you trying to tell me that Paul Martin loves the U.S.? :?

I think the whole of NATO, especially the European nations, do owe a lot to the United States. You did shoulder the major burden of the Cold War; you bailed us out (talking about Europe here) after WW2. Am sure that I'd be starting at a portait of Lenin right now if it hadn't been for the Americans. So for that, many many thanks.

BUT don't dismiss and don't forget that Canada played its part in defending democracy, as did Britain and the continental Europeans etc.

The whole tone of your contribution here, YankGreat, has demonstrated ably why some Canadians don't like your country. I also hope that Canadian/US relations improve - two great neighbours should get on well - but I fear it's an uphill struggle with attitudes like yours.

May I treat you to an ale? [B-o] [BB]

Would be an honour!

Come on, my friend. I was not trying to insult anyone. I was just being honest, and I was telling you my opinion.

and I told you, I wasn't trying to fool around here!!

Aside from being incredibly patronising to someone who's been engaging with you in debate (how old he is? how old are you? does it matter?) your post manages to insult a whole nation. Canada was ready to defend itself. Canadians were in the armed forces and were prepared to defend their country. Canadians fought with their usual professionalism and bravery in Korea.

Granted, Canada (like western Europe and the UK) would have been conquered by the USSR without US support - I don't know if anyone here is trying to deny that. The problem is with the tone of your post:

WE defended YOU.

Implication - YOU were sitting on your fat behinds doing nothing. Ergo, now you owe us.

Crass, chum, crass.

If your posts had a small degree of lucidity we would not need to translate.

Of course you were afraid of soviet attack. We were too, I don't think we were to the extent that you were though. And now you admit that Canada helped (we are getting somewhere). Yes I know NORAD is you twit. I am not that stupid

When has anyone person who is the opinion of everyone in the country promoted anti americanism? Paul Martin may have been an ass to the US, but you were an ass as well. So as I said before, it goes both ways, you can't expect to treat us like shit, and then turn around and expect mass praise. Paul Martin does not love the USA, obviously. Harper also doesn't want to turn America into the USA. He has already pissed bush off a little with protecting the north. Uh oh, hes anti american now too

Tman1 @ Fri Feb 24, 2006 7:36 pm

Tricks forget it. He's just trying to get you riled up, don't worry I fell for it too but give it up. He's obviously incapable or unwilling to engage in intelligent debate other than in a patronizing manner. It seems this whole issue exploded because of him for his own reasons.

maritimematt @ Fri Feb 24, 2006 7:38 pm

YankGreat also made a very odd post about the CKA 'jail'. I think he probably is best left alone.

Tman1 @ Fri Feb 24, 2006 7:43 pm

I suspect he made similar comments about Canada and Canada's military in other threads when this forum was screwed up with identity's. It was in a very similar manner of talk while insulting Canada in a derogatory manner. Look in "Do you appreciate our military" thread and "is Canada weak" thead. He is under Blue_Nose but not the real Blue_Nose.
