Another greedy tory... out for the buck and screw the rest.. well thats not what Canada is supposed to be about.. the health system needs work but its one of the best in the world.. in the good ole usa,, no ticky no laundry as they say.. if you cant pay then you go without or you sell your house, car and kids... so scarecrow if you like that so much apply for a green card.. if you dont vote green or liberal or NDP..end of story.

Canada is ranked 30th in the world. Not sure if that's considered one of the best. Of those three parties you've listed only the NDP has a serious plan to do anything about healthcare. Don't kid yourself Kenmore the Liberals had their chance and they did nothing.

Don't sell us so short. Ranked 30th means alot less when you examine the criteria and results. Look at the olympics. The difference between 1st and tenth is what? A miniscule amount.

I've seen the medicare in england and australia. We are as good and all three do a damn fine job.

If you want to see a specialist here, you pay the equivalency of $3.00 Canadian when you walk into their clinic. They are thinking about raising premiums only because too many people are abusing the system...have a cough go to the doctor, don't like what he says go to another until you get some placebo. Traditional Chinese medicine is also covered under medical insurance, which is where I go if I have a minor ailment.

I teach a few classes a week at the local university hospital, so I haven't had any difficulty in finding the appropriate doctor.

Dont worry Derby,if you and me were in a horrific helicopter crash, I would pull out the buck and do whatever surgery was necessary to keep you breathing. [B-o]

No shortage of doctors here.

That's not true. My brother has been in the hospital several times in the last few years. He has never been turned away and he has no insurance.

I have HEARD about people being turned away in one or two instances in the US but I have never known any one that has been turned away but I also have heard a lot of people die in Canada due to the health care system but after reading your posts that is apparently not the norm. I also hear that the wealthy people in Canada cross over into the US and pay for their healthcare here.

So obviously we can't always believe what we hear.

Another anecdote. A cousin, who used to live in Ontario up to '79 moved to California and has became quite successful. About seven years ago he was diagnosed with prostate cancer and consulted physicians here and there. He chose to have the surgery there in California because they offered the radiation pellet treatment that was not at all available here. He is as healthy as a horse today and still can ejoy his sexuality.
Two years ago, another fellow I know here in Canada had to have prostate surgery for his cancer and even then the radiation pellet technique was still not available in Ontario. To say the least, he was devastated (his wife told me). He may be breathing but he is very unhappy. The barbaric methods used here have caused him not only physical damage but also a world of grief and psychological damage.

Thats ok until you become ill, then passing from pillar to post is the norm.

Just been through all that, a plumber could have given a better diagnosis.

Get you in, then get you out as fast as possible.

Our health care system needs a complete overhaul.

I'm sure you have many anecdotes concerning the lack of healthcare canada.

My mother was diagnosed and treated for lung cancer in the span of 2 weeks. Perhaps not the norm but whats telling is that surviaval rates for Canada best the US.

Fill your boots and live where you want to live.

Just don't be a prick about it.

On yer bike. :P

Tell that to that poor fellow found dead in the emergency ward in Manitoba a couple of weeks ago after going unnoticed for over 24 hours.

You can have it for you have earned it.
