And for shut the mouth of some americans, who delares them selves pro-life, think about that:
They want to ban the ("Avortement" in french, I don't know how o saiy that in english), but they continue to keep the Deat Sentance. In French, we call that a "paradoxe".

Give me a break, America is far from free. We are prisoners of war, unfair elections, and victims of the new Patriot Act. Our politicians are protected from the medi they rarely ever have to debate, this is close to a dictatorship. We only have two stupid political parties to vote for every four years, its very sad how people say the usa is home to the free world. Our media practices thought control on us, our taxes go to wars that are killing inocent people in foreign lands and we dont even know it. You tell me NYCisHome, why could you ever even think we are more free than Canada, they enjoy way more freedoms than us.

flyman01 @ Sat Apr 23, 2005 3:11 pm

Also, why do you think we have the lowest voter turnout, everyone knows their vote wont make a damn bit difference as the last two elections have proven. The elections were over before they began, FOX news decided that, ah thank you.

I like what America can become and what it was before its foreign policy became agressive and hardlined. We have work to do, but someday we will be more like Canada and some European countries. The citizens just have to wake up and fight for whats right. That is less spending on the facist military state we are living in now, and spending on more important social programs. Even though we only have two choices each election, a vote for the Democrat can move us more and more in the right direction through time. Until the right wing is no longer around. We Americans simply need to open our eyes to what the media is feeding us, they are mainly war-hawks reporting everything.

.... then what is "freedom"?

I say it has alot to do with quality of life.

America will never shake off "the right". American heads of state, politicians, and right wing thinkers have already decided that war is needed to prosper and peace isn't as productive. It's called New World Order.

Freedom for Canada is also sovereignty and strong touch of nationalism. Until the public wakes up, and makes it an issue, Canada will always be considered as a satelite state, weening off of America's tit of fortunes and misfortunes. Maybe Canada can learn a bit from England. England can afford to sit on the European fence and go alone, a jockey for positioning, and do what the heck it wants. They manage two boarders, US and the socialist EU. Canada can benefit enormously by playing the international scene. EU is 400+ million strong, their back can use itching. Strong ties should be nurished and strenghtened as England done with the States, a cross Atlantic association.

S. American scene has begun to kick it's heals....Africa, China...etc.

Chinese society has managed to survive for 3000 years or more. Must be doing something right...? There's plenty to learn and do to keep Canada floating and with a future.

I have to disagree with you on the England part. The English citizens are more controlled than the US citizens by the government and media. Blair being a labour was supposed to stand up against the war in Iraq, what happend though? You have to be kidding me, they are the most satellite state of the US of any country around, "sucking on our tit of fortune" At least Cananda has the courage not to put a mass military into battle in the name of Bush and Oil .

Is this post a joke?

Foreign policy aside - Americans overwhelmingly favor individualism and freedom over collectivism and state control. The vast majority of Americans believe in hard work and self-determinism rather than bloated welfare states dispensing government handouts to anyone who asks.

America will never be like Canada or Europe. America, unlike socialist countries, has a bright future in the competitive global economy.

niggardly,
You must watch alot of Fox News. Wow, are you kidding? You seriously think we are free here? HAHA you just said" Foreign policy aside", when you started your post. Are you saying besides foreign policy we Americans are free? Well your agreeing with most of what I said then. You talk as though foreign policy is not a big deal and your ok with what Bush decides to do. I think that Foreign policy should rank a little higher in your priorities in the future. America does have some freedoms, BUT the current foreign policy and our only two choices in political parties take away our freedoms we once had. You will see the light someday, joining this site is a start.
