It's time to distance ourselves from the US

I dont drink moloson, not even molson, I dont care about hockey and I dont wear a mesh hat ...
We are intertwined with the u.s., hence why we need to remove that connection.
Its not impossible, our trade with international groups is going up constantly and we need to make more incentives (as much as we can considering geography).
We need to strengthen our own laws and promote ourselves more than we do, that means ripping up NAFTA, that means fixing the damage done by harmonizing with the u.s., that means ... wait for it ... ACTING LIKE A SOVEREIGN COUNTRY!
Instead of bowing down to u.s. wishes we need to remind them that we have the resources they desperately need, not the least of which is water, we need to make sure they realize their meddling is not welcome and will be met with counter actions, not empty threats.
We are not inextricably stuck, thats a defeatist attitude and rather silly considering countries drastically change all the time, within a generation we could be stronger than we are now, with more rights for our people, a much better living standard and we would have our sovereignty back ...
Canada was on a better course for a lot longer then the u.s., we managed to fight off their nonsense pretty effectively, all things considered, but they are getting increasingly aggressive and now that we have the P.O.S. Harper in office he is hell bent on making us a u.s. state ...
The greatest threat to Canadians isent terrorists (dont make me laugh), it isent our economy (one of the strongest around, despite our connections with the criminal to the south), our greatest threat is the creep of americanism into Canadian society, the slow take over of everything Canadian, the sucking sound of our money being funneled into u.s. pockets, the constant pressure on us to keep archaic laws, like keeping marijuana illegal and allowing DEA P.O.S. to open office in OUR cities!
This is just scratching the surface!
Like a bully in the school yard we need to distance ourselves, work with GOOD countries around the world and slowly choke off the u.s. until they smarten up and they will! the u.s. will get the clue, eventually the education standards will go up there and ppl will come back to their senses, american society will be very different though, like I said their empire is crashing, another reason to distance ourselves from the u.s. ...

...And?
Elaborate. I see a few problems, but they are repairable.
For Iran, the US are the Great Satan and for Communist China, a capitalist country like the US has to be eliminated.

Wait a second, you think us distancing ourselves from the u.s. will bring about the rise of russia etc? *LOL*
Are u kidding?
They are a rising power WITHOUT us being in the picture *LOL*
Are u saying ur scared at the idea of Canada playing with other countries? why?
I really get the sense u buy the u.s. propaganda that we need them, noone is going to invade us anymore then anyone is going to invade england or the netherlands *L*
Incase u havent noticed the modern world is getting along pretty well, its the 3rd world thats fighting to get out of its place, with the exception of the u.s. starting wars with countries for no reason the rest of the industrial, modern world doesnt seem ready to ruin themselves by invading anyone ...
Russia and China (u forgot India?) rising up is inevitable, they have too much poverty, to suggest they should stay powerless and power is pretty twisted, the reality is we have been raping the third world for far too long, our lifestyles are about to change, no more cheap gas, no more cheap food, no more cheap goods, its a new world folks, its fucked but we brought it on ourselves AND we only delayed the inevitable ...
What we need to do is limit the damage that is going to happen to Canada, we have RESOURCES, resources the world needs, we are sitting pretty, more importantly we need to be including ETHICS and MORALITY in our discussions, enough of this talk only about money, we are starting to sound like yanks ...
Btw with the changes we will be going through we also should get rid of the ultra rich, that is they owe more to society then the rest of us because they have enjoyed the fruits of our labour more then we have, unless we want this gilded age to get worse then we need to reign in the obscene profits made at the cost of our rights and at the cost of our livelihood ...

Basically my view. You're preaching to the choir here,

Yeah, but your singing leaves a lot to be desired.

Moral philosophy and the ethics around natural resources appropriation are mainly an English field of study. No Russian, no Chinese have published anything worth reading on this subject.
China's only doing well because of their exports to the USA. Shop Wal-Mart! lol

China and the US are caught in an agonizing and very instable codependency relationship.
Back in 1999 I think it was I planned a trip to Sask. for whitetail deer. I was about to book the trip when the guide told me I had to rent a gun there cause Canada just passed a law barring US citizen from bringing their own guns with them to hunt. I said forget it I will go elesewhere to hunt. He said yeah thats what alot of people have been doing.
A week later he called me back all excited like a little kid telling me they toook off the ban cause the guides and ranches lost about 3 billion dollars cause US citizens stopped coming.
This a small example of how you cant just do what you guys are saying.
By the way loved the trip shot a 165 class buck.

You got that exactly right. I'm sure most here know, China is America's bank. That's why there was so much concern to not piss off China (embarrass China) during the recent Olympic tourch run in SF.

We will have to live without Americans tourists since the American currency will make Americans too poor to come here from now on.

Our family and 2 other American families own together a fishing lodge in northern Sask for 20 years now. That's what some here don't get about the closeness of our countries. The people!!!
Congrats on the buck. Awesome!
