Erinite, Godz arguments are pretty lame, but the Brits burnt the Whitehouse, don't give him any ammo.

Lost again G;you're so out of your league here. Why not be a man like you claim to be and "head" over to Iraq and lay down your life on the altar of democracy. Here's a suggestion on how you can help America over there:

Have your ankles firmly secured to a piece of iron pipe about 20 feet long. Now,secure the opposite end of that pipe to the tip of the barrel of an M1 Abrams tank.Next, have an American flag planted in your rectum for patriotic and festive decorative purposes. Now G,your job will be to check to see if suspected roadside bombs are in fact duds,or... actual explosives. This will be accomplished by having the tank elevate it's gun barrel with you attached at the tip of the iron pipe,in a controlled up and down motion. Here's the good part;your concrete-reinforced head will be used to "tap" the suspected bomb to see if it goes off on contact,or if somebody detonates it automatically once you get near it.The reason for attaching you to the 20ft iron pipe is that if the bomb goes off,we'd like to keep the blast as far away from the tank as possible to minimize scratching it.
I realize this is a dangerous job,but you'd be helping to protect real Americans and their tax-funded equipment. In the event you find a real bomb, don't worry-I've got several "spares" in mind who can take over for you.

EyeBrock @ Sun Mar 06, 2005 1:13 pm

No worries! The arsonists were the 4th, 21st, 44th and 85th Regiments and elements of the Royal Marines and Royal Engineers, all under Ross. I'm sure the odd fiesty Upper Canadian Militia guy took part but no actual Colonial Militia Regts. did the deed in Washington.

Godz46 Godz46:
$1:
Wanna bet? Bill isn't around anymore.

Sure. Oh, and Clinton did'nt write the budget...Gingrich did.

$1:
BTW, when was the deficit ever a Trillion dollars?

If you put in inflation in the whole formula..pleanty of times in history. IN the early 80's, the early 90's and between 71 and 74.

The figures are burried somewhere on the Cato Institute website.

$1:
A cut of 4 billion!

4 trillion. I misspeled. Blame by keyboard for that if your blame deaths on guns.

$1:
What school did you go to again? An American one right? That expalins it all.

Rather go to an American Uni and learn to be man, rather than go to a Canadian one to learn to be a coward.

$1:
My point exactly (thanks btw) and where do you suppose those cars will be sold dummy?

Well see hwo the trade develops once the smoke clears...cause you guys have really been receiveing some bad press down here. Hannity has so far dedicated two shows on bashing Canada. The Wall Street Journal (the most influencial business paper in the western world) has also slammed Canada. So we'll see how things turn out in 5 years.

$1:
Is 425 million half of 2.5 billion?

Oh it was a lthan that suzy. More like 1.5 B.

$1:
I hear the PM and Mr. Bush spoke on the phone today, who called who?

My god...the media reports such things up there, who the Pm calls and who he doesn't? You guys really have an inferiority complex up there don't you?

$1:
Have fun talking about hockey with glow in the dark puck followers and keep drinking that fag beer.

Don't watch hockey anymore. After the lock out I realized I don't need it. (As did many other ex-fans). As for the beer...are you kidding me? Canadians are by the far the biggest lightweights I have ever partied with. Two beers and they're out. (Well...at least in Quebec and Ontario, I'm sure in the west they're more resistant though).

$1:
No I mean the 9,000 innocent civilians that were killed by American troops, not on purpose but most likely by accident.

I agree that's a very sad reality, but that number is over a 2 year period, Saddam jailed and killed over 15 000 a year. (According to the INC)

$1:
Godz, was this war really to save Iraq from Saddam’s sons?

It was a combination of things...the threat of him having WMD's, his ties to terrorists, and creating a Middle Eastern democracy that will serve as an example to the rest of the region. (The last two were true...2 out of 3 is not bad).

$1:
North Korea would realize that more bombs would have to be built to counter our decision to have MD programs built in our country.

North Korea's ressources don't match North America's. So maybee they will try but they will definatly end up collapsing their system in their military spending. Much like the USSR did in the late 80's when Reagan laucnhed an arms race. But anyway, the BMD was made as a means to prevent the chinese or the Russian leaders of tomorow from having..shall we say...itchy missile trigger fingers. The arms race is gonna happen, whether the US wants one or not...China and Russia don't have the vision of World Peace in their dreams, but domination.

$1:
the fact of the matter is, is that their is shame in trying it.

wait...using your logic I should never have brought a house alarm system becuase it will simply attarct more sophisticated criminals. I don't doubt that Canadians don't want to be part of it...I'm just saying they have the wrong idea on the whole thing.

Its not in some cases, but in this one it was pretty bad because that lie was a BIG lie and the Bush administration went on with that lie for months.

Yes Godz, remember that scary and horrible time when we all were trying to get more bombs then the enemy? That was a scary time, we don’t want to do the same mistake and loose all our money in the process, don’t you think Godz? Sure North Korea is not as strong, but it does have enough weapons and money to pose a pretty heavy threat to Canada in an economic and money wise setting. That’s why Canada doesn’t want to get into this whole mess.

You can think that Godz, but I think it is you who has the wrong idea about it.

That’s a huge mistake right their Godz. Your education system is weak and in a way sad for such a powerful country. If I want to be a patriotic American that wants to be more secluded towards other foreign countries in the world then yes I will go to school in the U.S. Heck, one American “MAN”, age 41 thought that Canada was a part of the U.S, I am not saying that goes for all Americans, but don’t you think that’s sad? To top it off here is an article that talks about the destruction of American the education system:

The destruction of American education

By Alan Caruba
web posted April 19, 2004
"No school left behind by a few absentees" was the recent headline of a news story that told of how President Bush's "No Child Left Behind" education bill is being "tweaked" because of its requirement that all students must eventually pass federally mandated tests when, in fact, nearly 300 middle and high schools in New Jersey fell short. In the third "adjustment" to the law since the start of this year, Rod Paige, US Secretary of Education, announced in March that schools would be allowed to "average their participation rates" over three years.

This takes into account that some students choose not to show up either at school or, not unexpectedly, to take the tests. The 2002 law requires that at least 95 per cent of all students be tested on a statewide basis. New Jersey's assistant education commissioner deemed the requirement "a killer for a lot of schools." Rounding up those few who simply saw no value in attending school hardly seemed worth it. Instead, schools will round out the numbers to meet the 95 per cent mandate.
Would that we could "tweak" the entire education system in America and make it work again. The reality, however, is that the thing is broken. It doesn't work. Year after year, children pass through it from kindergarten to twelfth grade, too frequently emerging into the world functionally illiterate and with their little heads crammed full of leftist and environmental nonsense of no value to anyone but the puppet masters who have crafted programs designed to make them docile, easily manipulated little "citizens of the world."

It is very hard to figure out just how damaged the overall system is. The news dribbles out in bits and pieces. Meanwhile, parents, often both working, lack the time to focus on their local schools except when their property taxes go up once again to support them.

Here's just a few pieces of news you may have missed.
Writing in August 2003, Washington Times columnist, John McCaslin, noted that, "every school day, 3,000 secondary students in the United States drop out. Once the 2003-2004 school year gets under way, nearly 540,000 young people will walk away from the classroom without earning a high school diploma. The nation's high school graduation rate is 69 percent, although the number is worse in urban areas where school districts graduate fewer than half of their students. Those who continue on to college can find the going difficult."

The typical liberal answer to this problem was a proposed piece of legislation, "Pathways for All Students to Succeed Act", introduced by Sen. Patty Murray (D-WA) that would fund the hiring of literacy coaches to strengthen essential reading and writing skills. It apparently never occurred to the Senator that those skills should have been property and effectively taught in the early grades. The failure to do so simply triggered a call for more money to be thrown at the failure.

A 2002 National Assessment of Educational Progress report noted that reading achievement of twelfth grade student had declined over the previous five years, with 33 percent of senior boys and 20 percent of senior girls reading below the basic level. This is a national disgrace and a national disaster.

Meanwhile, in this election year, the Landmark Legal Foundation has lodged a complaint with the Internal Revenue Service, asking it to investigate the National Education Association, a union despite its name, for engaging in undisclosed political activities and funding. The complaint alleges the NEA has used tax-exempt general revenue to fund political activities and has not reported those expenditures to the IRS for nearly a decade. Labor unions are required to file a Form 990 tax return about such matters. This teacher's union has spent millions on political activities despite telling everyone that its primary concern is the children passing through the system. Secretary Paige recently called the NEA "a terrorist organization." And then apologized.

A longtime observer of the US educational system, Samuel L. Blumenfeld, calls it a criminal enterprise. He reminds us that the April 1983 National Commission on Excellence in Education concluded, "The educational foundations of our society are presently being eroded by a rising tide of mediocrity that threatens our very future as a nation and as a people…If an unfriendly foreign power had attempted to impose on America the mediocre educational performance that exists today, we might well have viewed it as an act of war. As it stands, we have allowed this to happen to ourselves."

"No Child Left Behind", the education legislation cited above, is simply the extension and expansion of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965. Thus, for nearly four decades, Americans have stood by while their entire system has been systematically subverted and degraded to the point where there is hardly a statistic anyone can point to that demonstrates anything but failure.

To put it in dollars, more than $125 billion dollars have been spent by the federal government and the only result are children who have been deliberately rendered ignorant of basic skills, the history of their nation, or the superiority of Western culture, while at the same time being brainwashed with lies the environment is endangered and capitalism is an evil economic system. This year, the Bush administration blithely gave a $1.2 million grant to the United Nations-sponsored International Baccalaureate program designed to make students citizens of the world, not proud citizens of the United States. In the midst of our war on terrorism, the IB teaches "peace studies."

"Our educators have also become legal drug pushers," said Blumenfeld. The problem is so bad that in May 2003 the House of Representatives passed the "Child Medication Safety Act" intended to prevent a parent from being coerced into medicating a child so that child could attend school. The demand by teachers and administrators that children be forced to take Ritalin, Adderal, and other mind-altering drugs is a national disgrace. "Why is 80 percent of the world's methylphenidate being fed to children?" asked Dr. William B. Carey, director of behavioral pediatrics at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, when he testified before a House panel.

In February, the Education Trust and Thomas B. Fordham Foundation, after consulting with higher education officials and business executives in five states, released a report that said, "For too many graduates, the American high school diploma signifies only a broken promise." The diploma, they said, "is a ticket to nowhere." It has become little more than "a certificate of attendance."

More than 42 million adult Americans are thought to be functionally illiterate. Education Secretary Page has described America's reading crisis as an "emergency of the first order." He and every Secretary dating back to 1965 and earlier have had ample time to fix the problem.

So, let's sum things up. The present educational system does not effectively and successfully teach children to read or write well. It does not teach history or civics well. Pocket calculators have replaced the learned ability to compute anything in any way. It requires large numbers of those children to be medicated with mind-altering drugs. A growing number of school districts around the nation are either in revolt or finding creative ways to fudge the numbers required by "No Child Left Behind." The largest teacher's union is more interested in political activities than educational achievement. A high school diploma is too often a worthless piece of paper.
There's a reason why home-schooling children has become the desperate and heroic option of parents who want to insure they receive a good education.

There's a reason why the schools seem more concerned with teaching about things such as sexuality, cultural diversity, and global citizenship. The reason involves a deliberate effort to render American school children unable to compete in the real world and disengaged from the values that underpin our society, and our nation's survival and future.

I find some of the posts by Godz simply laughable. He does not seem to be able to distinguish between a deficit and a debt. Could someone please post a link to a grade two dictionary so he can look up the words.

Most, if not all, Americans that I have met through out my 40 some years have been well informed people who agree to disagree and do not have massive hissy fits when someone disagrees with them.

Canada is a great nation as is the United States but it seems that the current American Executive is set in their ways and will do whatever they perceive as being in their interests without though to the interests of other nations. Bush would destroy vast tracks of Alaskan wilderness simply to get more oil, then demand that a pipeline is allowed to go through Canadian soil.

The missle defence system is a ridiculous idea and will not do any good other than let Bushy boy sleep better at night knowing that he will add millions to the American national DEBT.

Canada has stood beside the Americans in many things but I am happy that our government did not blindly follow Bush into Iraq or blindly support him in the MDS.

America can be pissed off because of it but are we bashing them because of the illegal, as deemed by the WTO, trade tariffs on softwood lumber or the continued foot dragging over BSE.

Well thats a trend that will never die. Lack of information will always exist. I learned about american history in high school because it was manditory. How many Americans have had a lesson in Canadian history?. As far as bastardization of the English language goes do you think you can legitimize the epidemic going on in both our countries. The point is as AmericanCentury2 said it "I wish I could say I had a better opinion of Canada like I use too!" I agree.. I am Canadian and think highly of Americans dispite what some of them say with poor judgement. Because behind every man or woman lies the nuts and bolts which decides thier future and determines the outcome of the overall society. We are not miles apart we are neighbours and we should always treat eachother with respect.

I am just tired of the mean spirited jabs at my nation!

Show some love so called friend

Perhaps the US should show some love. we have been neighbours since the beginning. We have come to the aid of the US many many times. With military aid, financial aid during crises, during the major power outage in the northern states, rebuilding of Louisiana after the hurricanes. Canada has stood up to the plate when asked and rarely has there been as much as a thank you or recognition ( ie George Bush). We have been your closest ally and friend, but as soon as its popular to do so, the US tells the world its Britain or France or what ever flavour of the month it is to gain support for the phoney war in Iraq. Most Canadians go by what they see and know and we (unfortunately) are bombarded with US television which is mostly run by or hosted by right wing bigots. Ask most Canadians and they can tell you the history and geography of the US, ask the average American and they know nothing about Canada and little else outside their borders.

You don't know Canada very well. Yes, God bless America, but Canada is a good decient country and everytime I go up there I love it and the people and I know a great deal about the history between Canada and the US that doesn't make the US look too good especially the War of 1812.

Canada has been a damn good friend for many decades. True the governments don't always agree on things, but so what.

I am tired of the "Canada Bashing". Which country would you feel more secure in a border town Canada or Mexico?

Why is there Canada Bashing on a site named "Canada Kicks Ass" anyway? If anybody wants to bad mouth Canada do it somewhere else please.
