The United States is alot like Mexico to Canada. We are cleaner, better standard of living, better schools, and have better inventions than Americans. I think it would be best for the world if Americans didn't exist. Too bad it wasn't the US that got nuked, now that would be a sight that I would lke to see, cause then they would know how it feels for someone else to win the war unfairly. If you look at the history books you will notice that Japan was basically kicking the US's ass from Island to Island. Even look at Vietnam, Korea, all wars that the US basically sucked at and got their asses kicked. I'm glad countries like Vietnam can teach the US how inferior they really are.

   

Canadians where fighting in Korea too right beside the Americans.

The americans woudl have won vietnam if it wasnt for the political shit they had to put up with. Take the hill, no we dont need it give it up. Take the hill back we need it now, ok well give it back again. wait we need that hill.


As far as Everyone being better than Americans, even I'm not that bad. I have no like for the American goverment but the American People are fine by me. I think that is a false statement. they might be a bit ignorant when it comes to world matters that done deal with them and even ones that do but by no means are then inferior to anyone, we are all equal..

   

Johnny the US was not getting it's ass kicked in the Pacific. They where taking casualties but after about 1943 they where winning. The decsision to nuke Japan was made to end the war quicker and save the lives of American soldiers.

Its just an unfortunate sideaffect that it eradiated the ground and killed thousands of Japanese civilians. Oh well at least American soldiers lives where saved.
The thing is. If the Japanse had had the A-Bomb they would have used it more than twice!!!! They would have loaded up as many planes as they had and over they would have come!!!

The War wouldnt have ended soon if the A-bomb wasnt used! The war was about to move from the sea to Japan itself and that would have cost the Americans many many lives. Thats why they dropped it. I dont think they expected it to work as good as it did.

   

Everyone talks about how many Japanese died at Hiroshima and Nagasaki, but no one stops to ask how many would have died had the Americans invaded. I mean look at how the Japanese where fighting on Okinawa. They where arming everyone who could fight. It would have been a bloodbath! There soldiers (most of them) would not have surrendered and judging by what happened at a lot of places, many of there civilians would have committed suicide rather then fall into enemy hands. If nuking them was necssary to end the war so be it. The Japanese wern't exactly the nicest people on the planet ether (some of there activities in China and the Philippines as well as treatment of Allied prisoners comes to mind).

The thing is polmarch about the nukes they didnt just kill soldiers. thats the difference.

   

Nether would have an invasion of Japan. My point is that their was a very good chance that many more civilian lives would have been lost. Any way you look at it, it was an ugly situation. But your right this forum should be about the Mars rover. If any one wants to continue this discussion I believe that someone has already started a topic on the use of the A-Bomb on Japan, so we can do it there.

   

Johnny douch bag...I dont know who taught yu what?....did they drop ya on yer head or something....In 1941...japan had like a 4-1 ship ratio....better planes...and were lead by men who knew their stuff...their big flaw was their culture of " pride"....it was thier achillies heel imho....we hopped island to island kicking ass all the way..we suffered alot of deaths n causualties...because they were fighting till the last man....many killed themselves rather than be captured....

as for vietnam...we lost 58,000 + in 10 years of fighting....they lost millions....again ....the culture...pride.....and bravery......kept em going........we coulda used nukes...but we didnt....

in korea....we were fighting with obsolete equipment..in the beginning....and we were more worried about what red china was doing....so look at a real history book....

As it was the Japanese in fact killed more civilians than other combatant in WW2, something like 30 million in China alone.
