Prince George is in the midst of a Real Estate boom like that of Edmonton and Calgary. The thing with PG is there is no explanation for it. Forestry is in serious trouble and the economy is based on forestry. There is really nothing else here. In the last three months real estate prices have gone up 30%!!! Prices of houses now match that of Kelowna but Kelowna atleast has the weather and a hugely diverse economy and lifestyle. It's a sad time for families to buy a house in most of Western Canada.

Rich Calgarians buying up the real estate?

It happened in Fernie and it's happening here in my town now with 10,000 condo's and Canada's biggest mountain resort to be built here soon. Not too mention all the Europeans buying up land which is virtually unheard of in Europe unless your rich.

Land is a good investment, they dont make it anymore.

Rich somebody buying it up. But the population of PG has actually gone down from 2001 levels.

it's not that we're running out. The government just won't release any into the marketplace.

hmmm :?: I wonder if that is true . Maybe most of the land is wrapped up in Nafta for resources, legal stuff/foreign bidding . It's actually kind of odd with such a big country :? I smell communism ...maybe.

IT FITS 8O welfare people , indigenous , civil union , corporate and farming beggars . Rising prices , high taxes , dropping wages ...

to be honest it sounds more like really bad debt .

When moving to Canada, try to avoid the lure of the small Saskatchewan retirement communities and their cheap housing, you’ll find there’s no employment in these areas.

Is that supposed to be advice ? I noticed a growing number of whiners in Alberta ...give it time and you'll be one of them
