I am considering a move to Canada with my family. I have always loved Canadian people and to be honest, I have simply had enough of the USA arrogance.

If anyone could tell me how hard is it to get citizenship in Canada as well as any other useful information I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks,
Michelle

Hey Michelle,

welcome to CKA...

You could check out www.cic.gc.ca, you will find every info you need there. We are at the end of the processing period now, it took us 22 months so far...

Good luck!

Hey Michele, welcome to CKA. Feel free to spread your opinions in our threads. For the Canaidian citizenship applications... Maybe you should apply for a job here and once moved, ask for the Citizenship. I am unsure of its inner workings, but IMAO, it might be an easier avenue.

Only if the employers are willing to do the paperwork for a LMO. And I guess that depends on where Michelle is living now, if she can come over for an interview... Oh, and it depends on what they are doing for a living. But maybe that is not for US citizens...

Saskatchewan is short of workers. I'm betting some companies in our province would do anything to get workers. Check the website: www.saskatoonjobshop.ca And Saskatchewan is one of the least expensive provinces to live in. It would be the best place to get your foot into Canada. IMO

I recommend the Yukon for you.

Just wondering if your going to give up your US citizenship, considering you have "had enough of the USA arrogance"

My Grandma had enough of Canadian Bureaucracy, but she still has her Canadian citizenship.

What is wrong with Dual Citizenship???? Lots of great job opportunities that way.

sandorski @ Thu Mar 15, 2007 7:42 am

IMO, you should keep your Dual Citizenship. The US can change in the future and having Dual Citizenship gives you unique opportunities that most people don't have at their disposal. This is especially true for your children(if you have any), they can more easily choose Colleges/Universities or Jobs with Dual Citizenship.

Well, you are welcome to Canada thats for sure :)

I suggest you settle in Alberta, Edmonton because it's a lot easier to get a job and play ice hockey cheaper. :)

Haha, anyways have a good one eh?

Regards,
Stellar.
