U got that right IronMike..........Compulsory service, not just in the military, but doing something, I think might change society for the better. People who have the capacity to think of others as well of themselves are almost always better people in general.

Service of one's country or community in some capacity is one of the most noble things a person can do. It's even more noble when it's done and no recognition or compensation is sought...........Ya think this is whats going wrong in the US and Can. today? The "Whats in it for me?" ideals that our society has been fostering?

Oh yeah bud, what is in it for me is everything.

I hope I get fat so I can sue someone....I smoke cigarettes so I can sue right. What a bunch of childish bullshit! I won't get started. :wink:

i dont want to sound like Im bragging or anything, but as far as I know im the 10th generation of my family to have served in the military for Crown and Country

RH........Heritage is always something to be proud of........White, Brown, Pink, Black, whatever.......However there is one heritage that is always an important one, the MOST important one in my mind........The Military heritage of one's family. Service of one's country is of the utmost importance........Good on ya.......I hope if I ever spawn, I hope my son will follow in my footsteps.......But only if our gov't gets some BALLS and spends some money on our great military.

Well, I personally think in the long run Chretien will been seen as having done a good job (balanced budget, electoral reform, etc..) But we'll let history decide.

On the other hand, nobody here elected Strom Thurmond to an important job until he was 97. It must have been a sad week for the neo-nazi crowd.

Ironmike you may have unwitingly stumbled on the Canadian Identity. We are a nation of head down ass in the air people who just want to work and have enough money to enjoy our kids. The country on average is well educated and doesn't have it's head in the sand but rather we realise a few things..we haven't the population,military or the desire to bestow what we percieve to be right culturally or politically on another country. It is also understood that the world needs a watchdog and you poor bastards took up the torch and people will sit back and bitch. You may have noticed also Canadians love a good debate or banter.whether it is in the pub at work or in a forum such as this "Absolut_SS" did a fine job of stirring the pot.
I would also like to ask you if you remember growing up with siblings. I am not sure about you Mike but I slagged mine all the time but lord help anyone else that tried it. America for the most part is the older sybling and I am sure when push comes to shove your little sybling north of the 49th would be in the middle of the fray.
PS: I would gladly suit up myself.
