Cretien is great @ lying & has no policy, on anything. Like that for "leadership", you poor misguided...South American!

BadAssBookie @ Tue May 20, 2003 6:58 pm

Hmmmm... not quite.

I just live here. Like all good Canucks I'm English/French/Scottish/Irish/etc...

and actually, his leadership has shown a lot more backbone than many others.

ABSOLUT_SS @ Sat Jun 28, 2003 4:44 pm

Still thinks Cretien is the largest mistake this country EVER made! His "legacy" will screw us for years to come, watch the patronage appointments coming up, & we can do nothing but bitch-we voted in the asshole, term limits? Cretien is a fine example of why we need 'em...2 four-year-terms, thats it, thats all the damage you can do, are you listening, you "little asshole from Shawinigan"? Probably not, I'm just a Canadian!

Rev_Blair @ Sat Jun 28, 2003 6:20 pm

I don't know absolut....Chretien has a lot of work to do before he surpasses the ugly albatross of a legacy Mulroney left us. The sad thing is I have a feeling these guys are in some sort of competition to see who can screw us over the most.

ABSOLUT_SS @ Sat Jun 28, 2003 7:02 pm

Touche, Rev
I agree, in the end, we're the ones that get screwed, every time, no matter who is in. But there has to be a better way, keeps me honest looking for it. Instead of bullshitting here, I'll admit I voted for Mulroney, twice, without a regret. Many of the conservative govt. policy of the eighties has led to to Canada's sucess today, there is no doubt about that. Liberal policy? LOL, time is ticking, they have none....

Rev_Blair @ Sat Jun 28, 2003 8:03 pm

I never voted for Mulroney, but you probably guessed that. The last time he got elected is a night I'll remember for a long time though. We went to rather rough red-neck bar to see the Ozark Mountain Daredevils that night. I'd bet that everybody there smart enough to make an X voted for Mulroney. My friend had this weird chick in tow...if you think I lean to left, you should see this one...and she wouldn't shut up about how much she hated Mulroney.

Between every set they were putting the election results on and this weird chick, in a bar full of large men with boots and hats, kept ranting loudly about how anybody who voted for Mulroney should be taken out and shot. I actually found myself arguing for Mulroney out of a sense of self-preservation, which probably kept us from getting thrashed that night.

If you ever get a chance go see the Daredevils, do it. Don't do it on election night though and if your friend wants to bring his stupid girlfriend, make him sit at a different table.

Mulroney's Legacy though...a trade deal that threatens our sovereignty, gives corporations the same status as nations, takes away our control of our resources, massively effects culture, and costs jobs. There's the GST too, let's not forget that little gem. The shifting of the tax burden onto the ever-shrinking middle class. The gutting of the social safety net. Some legacy.

Chretien, who I also never voted for, promised to change those things and never did. He didn't start them though.

Best damn story I heard all week, Rev, ROTFLMAO,.....ahem, I remember the day also, woke up, stumbled, realized I fell asleep about three hours ago, made a good move & WALKED to the public school to vote! I voted, had lunch. blah, blah. Ended up, I owed a buddy of mine $50 for something or other, & saw his semi-trailer in a mall parking lot that night, about twelve hours after I voted, on the way home. He pulls out a bottle of "wiser's oldest", asks if I wanna make the "run", its 2:00 am, & I don't have to get up in the morning. I jumped in, it turned into a 15-hour-nightmare, where I made the the decision, once & for all, to NEVER, EVER consider driving a truck for a living, & the novelty wore off right-quick too. Nice rig, no offence Buffalo Bill. My second Mulroney vote! Glad I did! The lefty press was a lot harder on Mulroney than they are with this crop of shit for the last ten years!

MAtrix @ Sun Jun 29, 2003 4:17 pm

How about Albertans? I'm sure they listen to what he has to say. (Or former Albertan like myself) not that I totally agree, but Alberta isnt a small farm province like you may think and are legitimate. Ernie Eves supported the war and told Ottawa his disappointment as well.

Matrix @ Sun Jun 29, 2003 4:25 pm

BTW, I was refering to Clunk in the above statement when he said

"I would be extremely surprised to see how many canadians , if any listen to what Klein has to say."

RoyalHighlander @ Sun Jun 29, 2003 8:08 pm

you'd be surprised how many Canadians cared about what Ralphie had to say..

Rev_Blair @ Mon Jun 30, 2003 4:32 am

Everybody interested in Canadian politics should listen to Ralphie. I don't like him, think he's an idiot...a dangerous one at that. He's influential though, and in charge of one of our richest provinces. That means that agree or disagree, what he says matters.

BadAssBookie @ Mon Jun 30, 2003 10:28 am

I've said it before and I'll say it again. International relations is a field reserved EXCLUSIVELY for federal jurisdiction. He and my own piece of crap premier Bert and Ernie Eves need to remember this the next time the spout about federal intrusion into health or education.

Either improve the logic or shut up.

Matrix @ Mon Jun 30, 2003 1:49 pm

Well, I guess a lot of conservative politicians these days seem to want to rebel against the federal liberals and forget that they are not MP's. Jurisdiction problems they have to solve now because it is getting to become unprofessional.

But on the other hand, its not like Eves or Klein are doing anything about it, they are just talking.Everyone has the right to talk, freedom of speech, if me and you can oppose or be for the war, then so can Klein or Eves. The only time it becomes a problem is when the premiers tries to do something about it. IE: Try to order the military in Alberta to go to iraq despite the Feds opposition, but that will never ever happen.
