Can't do it on a state visit but if he comes fishing...
I don't think we have a choice, given our laws, but to charge the little freak with war crimes. We should probably make that clear to our leaders.
That would go well, with the Secret service popping a few fuses while the RCMP are arresting Bush. That would be one hell of a sight. Canada would go in the history books on that one. That would take gusto balls. Does our leadership have them....
You're talking about men willing to get screwed on trade deals because they don't want to link one issue with another, Mario. Of course they don't have the balls to enforce the law. The problem is that if we don't enforce the law on Bush, then we have no moral authority to enforce the law on anybody else.
Quite a vicious circle... They cut some exports... we cut the rest, no more oil, gas, electricity. What else did I miss...
The problem is... next thing we know we are in the middle of an invasion, Because we are infringing on their rights. And I wonder who would they put in power? Who would serve best the US. Because they would liberate us and give us a new "leadership".
Let's not forget war with the United States which we'd lose promptly even if other nations came to our help. The idea of indicting Bush is so foolish that I nearly fell off my seat laughing at it. It's far more in Canada's interests to not indict Bush that to do so. Might not be morally right (though the entire issue of whether or not Bush was morally right in declaring war to get rid of Hussein is morally right is debatable), but it's practically right. Sometimes a person's morals have to take a back burner to the real world - indicting Bush just to uphold morals and in doing so ruining our country and every Canadian's life, just isn't worth it.
If the world came to our aid...and it would if for no other reason than they also want our resources...the US would back pretty damned quickly. Don't ever forget the US is very dependent on the rest of the world, but the rest of the world is much less dependent on the US.
George Bush is a war criminal...that's not a moral debate, it's based on the fact that he has committed war crimes and crimes against humanity. He should be treated as such.
Not prosecuting is the same as letting a rich guy get away with murder because he's bought a couple of cops and a judge.
America is not as powerful as everyone thinks. They cant even win a war with an impoverished country. They're still in Iraq, cant seem to finish the job, and they couldn't possibly fight another war. They look pretty weak to me.
Bush is a criminal and should be treated as such. But Paul Martin is determend to improve relations with the US. We need a leader with guts.
Godz, why the hell do you live in Canada? You got your lips all over americas ass. Why dont you go move there so you can munch on as many american asses as you can?
If the US was to attack they would lose their access to our energy. More than that, they would lose access to Venezuelan energy and immediately face the armies of the Commonwealth (required by law) and le Francophie, as well as having to deal with the wrath of "old Europe" and Russia, who announced just today that they are developing a new missile system.
The US army can't even conquer Iraq, Godz, and Iraq doesn't have any allies. How well do you think they'd make out with their resources cut off and the whole world against them?
That's not why he won't be arrested, Scape. He won't be arrested because Paul Martin has no spine. Neither do most of the other leaders in this day and age.
