Part of the problem here is that Canada is handing out citizenship to just about anyone who wants it and Canada isn't being very careful in checking the backgrounds of the people you're letting in.

I will also be the first to note that the US actions are a tad hypocritical because these same Canadian residents we're keeping out could just as easily walk across our southern border without any incident whatsoever...thank you, Mr. Bush.

Part of the problem, is it? Just what country was it that let in a bunch of madmen, known badmen so they could pull off 9/11? Lord thunderin'! F**kin' crybaby. Yah! We let your murdering prezident cross into Canada and the memory still sickens me.

Well then go to a Tamil Tiger fundraising in Toronto, it may help you forget Bush's visit.

I think this is something Canadians will have to get used to. After years of anti-American comments from politicians, the press, and sites like this (the "I loath America" thread seems very popular) a great many Americans no longer consider Canada a close or trusted friend, where at one time you were basically family. Now it's passports at the border, plummeting American tourism to Canada, and Canadians barred from places they were once welcome. If Hillary gets elected it will get worse. She is an opponent of NAFTA and would love to lessen the massive trade surplus Canada now enjoys under the deal, and NORAD would probably get looked at also. A lot of Canadians seem to want to distance themselves from the states. Guess what, it's happening. It's like the old saying - be careful what you wish for, you just might get it.

Name Canadian politician who made an anti-american comment.

Dare ya!

Bart's right but both countries have an enormous problem with foreign (Chinese) industrial espionage. RCMP investigation Sidewinder was all over that & that's why Chretien shut it down.
Bad for business, you know..

"Name Canadian politician who made an anti-american comment. "

Carolyn Parrish, Chrétien, the Liberals in the last election - want me to go on?

Yeah, well I say let the corporations deal with "industrial espioage". I'm perfectly happy, as a consumer, to be for instance running a very nice computor system, that if the parts had been American made and my only option, would probably cost me two to three times as much as I paid. I can purchase a guitar made in China, Korea or Taiwan and of equal quality for about a third of the American eqivilent. As a "consumer" and not an investor I don't give a rats ass about the percieved problems of big business. I'm interested in getting the best bang for my buck, it's that simple.

Very good Tokimini. So what's your point? Are you suggesting that the American administration is as sensitive to critism as say the Muslims were to some political cartoons, or that they got their feelings hurt and in childish spite they arn't going to play nice but are going to take their marbles home. Cry me a river. Your in need of one or two or three.

That's great if you work at 7-11. What about the huge numbers of Canadians who make things for a living? Not everyone can draw water and hew wood, and, this may come as a shock,..
not everyone can work for the government either.

Or the northern border.

Longest undefended border in the world.

This U.S. government sign appears as the grassy trail (visible on the right) leads into the U.S. But local people just drive around the sign! The Canadian government has not put up such signs on the other side.

Personally who cares, I was raised on a border town, the border is an option.

Bunch of anal retentive cock sucks if you ask me. They want to give Canadians guns, shit they are stupid enough without the added confidence.

As long as it isn't American straw....I am ok with that.

Gee, if you go pop a few Ritalin and then read my post again you'll see I wasn't saying the USA is all innocent in this. It makes no sense to me to subject Canadians to extra scrutiny when we let MILLIONS of Mexicans and God only knows who else across the southern border every year.

If Mexicans were being treated the same as Canadians I might feel different about it - but looking at how Mexicans are getting special treatment I'd be a little offended were I a Canadian.
