You were a british colony also. Regardless, it was you who invaded us in 1812 and not vice-versa. It may also interets you to know that Canada had US invasion plans in the 1920's and the US had invasion plans in the 1930's.
I'd to see where you found this info......

please send a link.
It may be tough to find. I remembered it from many years ago but it was brought back to my attention through an internet trivia game. Its probably verifiable because the game used only verifiable trivia. Things were very different way back then.

Just found this. http://www.straightdope.com/mailbag/mcanadawar.html
I may be mistaken about the dates but the sentiment is still there.
As long as we provide 15% of their oil (more the Saudi Arabia BTW) and 90% of their natural gas imports, I can't see them distancing themselves too far...

the "American bastards" comment was made by a member of the Canadian government.
Er no it wasn't Carolyn Parrish was never a minister
Yank never said Minister...he said member of the government.

Now go back and look for the qualifying comment at the end of my quote and respond to that.
BTW, the US has spent the last 50+ years interfering/influencing/forcing the gov't of others then you can't possibly get bent out of shape over perceived non-support of a single US presidential candidate.
Who's getting bent out of shape? I don't like Bush anyway, I find him arrogant and incapable of reason.
DerbyX DerbyX:
Pardon me? Got any links showing this? That shit all comes from your own home grown conspiracy nuts. Since you brought it up, care to comment about the lies you pesident told in order to link iraq to 9/11 when the links were all to saudi arabia, your buddy?
CBC - Fifth EstateIf you tell me you haven't seen this, I'll be shocked, I saw when I was in Canada.
DerbyX DerbyX:
Where were you when I was an undergrad? J/K. Good for you.
Probably in diapers, but thanks anyway. Here's a link if you know any high school students in their senior year

Press is the news. No offense but I doubt it got any real copy and was probably dismissed out of habd by the vast majority of US citizens if they ever heard it.
Well next time we'll be sure to hold a national march when you help us out

I'm not sure what it is you want as a thank you.

I know we were a British Colony, what's your point? I was referring to anti-Americanism and brought up John MacDonald as an example, how do you stray off topic? And for the record, we declared war on England which they provoked, that was a long time ago, time to get over it. I'm aware of war plan red, it was a contigency plan with war against Britain, like the war of 1812.
DerbyX DerbyX:
I might also suggest you reseach the first US broken arrow. That was an invasion of Canada if I ever heard one and if the situation were reversed you know damn well you would not look at it favourably. Hint: atomic bombs & crashed in BC.
An accident is an invasion?

There are many countries that are interetsed in our goods, but we deal with the US because they are "right there" we can deal with othrs if need be but it would mean shipping more over seas by ship than just down interstate 15 by truck...
You deal with the US because Economics 101 dictates it serves your interests.

As much as it may pain some of you to realise it, Canada and America need each other. Forget what that bozo from Fox tells you or what really nationalistic Canadians will tell you, we need each other. But, Canada is in the right on these recent trade issues, and we have more than enough right to make our own decisions without America whispering in our ear. This goes for Canada as well. Who are we to tell Americans what to do in their own country? They (and us) are more than capable of making intelligent decisions, although recently, that doesn't appear to be happening........
That's correct, we need each other. There is also a unique relationship we have between our people, it goes beyond trade alone, we have relatives, friends in each others country and are always there when help is needed. That's alot more anyone else can say about their trade.

Yeah well its time to move on to Advanced Economics then because we need to start diversifying our markets.

You should start by easing trade restrictions between your provinces, that would be a first step.

He has us there folks, our own provincial trade barriers probably hurt us a much as any trade sanction the US tables.

You provide 8% of our oil and 16% of our natural gas, which both equal to 7% of our energy consumption.

Brush up on the system, any MP of the governing party is a part of the government. Minsters are part of the cabinet.
See ya!
