I'd love to see Canadians and Americans love each other like we should. Even if it's one of those subtle relationships.. I'd like to see it not so subtle.
I'd love to see Americans claiming how great their neighbors to the north is, and Canadians declaring their love for the USA.
I'd love to see Canadians stand up and cheer during the American anthem at hockey games, and the USA do the same for those crazy Canadians up North.
I'd love to see Americans say "It's cool if you don't want to go fight beside us in the Iraq war. We understand".
I'd love to see Jean Chretien and George Bush get along. Neither of them can speak english. There's something they have in common right there.
That's what I'd really like to see.
At first, I thought it was a trick for us poor, stupid, people that believe in working for it. But then, alas, NOBODY could be THAT cynical or naive! Its true! 'CAP said it all! Get this, if its a joke, I'm the straighman, but here goes,...I fly an American & Canadian flag wherever I live, Canada or U.S. The only differece is, when in the U.S., protocol states that you have to fly the flag of the country your in on the left. I checked! Canada also. In Canada, maple leaf on the left, in the States, stars and bars on the left hand side. So my 19-year-old-daughter found this beautifull flag, bought it and gave it to her daddy as a gift. Its a stylised American/Canadian flag,' cause she watched her dad cry when Canada won the gold in Salt Lake, and SHE cries when Americans die overseas. I just got it last week, and it says it all to me. We love both countries. Soon as I get back home, wherever "home" becomes for the fiftieth time in these kids lives, that flag flies in the middle. Thats a personal story, tell me you hate Americans, I have two American daughters, I'm Canadian, I'll kick you're balls. Nice flag, too...
Wow. Yeah, that does sound like a cool flag. I've never seen one like that before, but I'd certainly like to grab one.
I figure Americans'll never understand why some Canadians cried when Canada won the gold at SLC. Hockey runs through our veins, whether we watch it or not. Personally, I can't get enough of the Toronto Maple Leafs, and follow their season religiously. Americans are in love with football, and football loves America. But they don't have football on the back of their $5 bills, do they?
I love Americans. I understand that only a few of them are the assholes who run those "CANADA SUX LOL" websites, just like there are some Canadian morons who can't stop shooting down USA. We need to relax and live in peace. After all, we're going to be neighbors forever. We may as well get used to each other. Americans get our hockey players, and we get your smog and fast food chains. It's a beautiful thing..
I think we're gonna get along just fine, Cap. This beautifull flag is half stars & bars, half maple leaf, in a beautifull design. I've seen pictures of similar versions on the net, but never for sale. I know a guy who makes custom-made decals & bumper stickers. I was thinking of having him make me up a hundred or so of this design. Interested? PM me here if you are. Please post the subject on the PM though. Everytime I get a PM on here its either shit or abuse, rarely is it positive. LTR...
That'd be great. I'd certainly like to see what this design looks like. If I see one for sale, I'll definitely buy it for my friend who lives in Louisiana. I'm showing her the ways of Canadians, and she might appreciate it..
Sounds good to me, Cap. Gimme a week or so. I also always fly a Canada/U.S flag on my trunk, and I hate too many bumper decals, so I'm gonna wait before I stick one on 'till I buy a new truck or something. I'm gonna see if it can be done, you 'da first on 'da list if it happens. I'll send you an e-mail address if it does!
...I almost moved to New Orleans in '93, wish I had!
Really? That's awesome. Why did you almost move there? I'd go in a second...it seems like a pretty cool place, minus the butchered version of french.
I still think I'd like New Orleans for a visit, but I did a lot of research. Fuck! What do I know, I ended up in Detroit!!! New Orleans has the highest rate of police corruption in the United States, year-after-year. We aren't talking about beating an asshole up once in a while here, we're talking systematic corruption. Many reasons kept me away when I had the chance ten years ago. The city has always fascinated me, never been. My wife and I want to visit someday. Her sister lived in Baton Rouge, the state capitol of LA, & she hated it! Too hot, all year, crime, & she just had a bad time in general. She says save the money & go to California instead for a holiday. Then again, what does she know...? GO UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN WOLVERINES. Sorry dude, football nut here, had to get it out of me...
Really? Wow, I didn't know that! My friend lives in DeRidder...about 5 hours west of New Orleans, towards the Texas border. From what she's said, she likes it quite a bit, but has always thought highly of Canada as well. Personally, I doubt she'd be able to stand the winters! Her idea of a winter is 20 degrees F, and a bit of frost on her trampoline. I don't think I'd be able to survive a Louisianian summer. Canada obviously has some rather warm temperatures, but nothing compared to the humidity and brutal heat Louisiana has. Plus, I couldn't survive without my Toronto Maple Leaf games! It seems like a whole different world down there. To be honest, the furthest into the USA I've been is Buffalo, NY. Unfortunately. But next summer I've already promised my friend that I'll be visiting her down there. It should be interesting! And luckily, the playoffs'll be done with, so I won't miss a thing.
I'd like to see George Bush's head on a pike on the steps of the UN.
Yes, especially everyone at the Fox Network. How I hate them.
