well for the lsat hour it was fine, but just now in the last couple mine it did a "slowdown" and I checking the server while it was happening, cpu load was low, so thats not the issue.
At least it pulled itself out.

how often have these slowdowns been happening? only seen it once so far since i've been awake.

that was just because i had to restart the web service, only cuts out for 15seconds or so.
slowdowns aside, this new version of PHP, which seems to be working ok this time, seems to make the site run faster overall.

When I simply submit a quick post, it bogs to death but when I open the respond window, it works.

I am going insane trying to troubleshot and fix this slowdown issue. Server performance issues like this are like layers of an onion.
I seem to remember having problems like this the same time of the year, last year.

sorry site went down twice for 20 seconds each. I was installing a trial for some software called "ThreatSentry". That I am going to try using to monitor the traffic hitting the server to see if the slowdowns might be some kinda Denial-of-service attack or something related.
If the site crawls to a standstill like it was doing the last few days, can someone MSN me, so I can try and monitor it live.

heh, yah sorry, some funky stuff might have been happening like that. I was doing some testing to try and make some of the code more efficient and reduce the number of database queries.
And its working, I got rid of around 11 queries per page!
Its all very small miliseconds saved, but when compounded with hundereds uf users, it can add up to some savings.
