Being a forum junkie that you are...didn't you see the 4 other posts about Chat on CKA? 
Chat may be ok, It might slow forum posts however.

Thats awesome! But myself, mainly I am on after work (earliest is usually 10:45pm pacific time) and not many of you OLD timers are up at this time. KIDDING!

That front page post may do better than the "Will a Canadian Team make it to the cup this year?" Well, in my opinion, probably not because the cup isn't being handed out...stupid no hockey season

I'm thinking of trying the chatroom again after the new server comes, will have a trial run.

yah i dont think the Chat will fly, had it running for a couple days, onyl one to come chat was Andem, we just talked about site tech stuff.

Perhaps if it was possible to have on thew front page either a little thing like the "Whos online" thing that will say "X number of people are chatting right now". Or perhaps have it a once a week thing. In the forums have a topic that people vote when to have the chat open. Have it open for say like 4 hours a week on one day. All show up at one time. What ch'all think?

well about this time last year tried a char room, it was an IRC channel on a friends irc network. And there was a java irc built into the site, like the current chat, but you could also use mirc.
But it didn't catch on.
So this second round i tried this proprietory chat, it works well, but still not enough interest. but after the experiment, I think if it does happen I might go with irc again.
But with the propritory chat there was a thing i could put on the frontpage to show online users, and the other nice thing is that it intigrated into the sites login system. So yur username was the username on the site.

I like this idea. Maybe we could have "chat the babes" time or experts on.. something?

I don't know Spike. Looking at some of the negative comments posted on the pics I think some chucklehead would end up ruining it. Then again...chatting with girls online? Real live girls? Count me in!! ![[drool]](./images/smilies/droolies.GIF "Drool")
