I have a few beefs about the site. When i stoped posting it was becasue the site almost never lets me do anything. Post, log in, view forums etc. I have tried to use 3 diffrent browsers will no luck. Im not even sure this post will work.

Besides that...

There are way to many forums, its hard to find what your looking for if you havnt been here for while, trying to keep up with the threads becasue they are all about 15 pages long full of flaming. Forums are filled with 10 threads about the same topic etc.

Trying to figure out what is on the main page is also a challange. It is so clutered with crap feels like my eyes are going to bleed...

...thats it.

agree with you, thats why I posted a thread that the BS that has been going on here is going to stop and that there will be some mebers "asked" to leave because of the flaming and name calling etc.. There will be changes in the New Year...(RH)

Why is it so slow loading? I think that's half the problem signing in.The site is graphic heavy also, that might account for the sluggishness.
I dont mind the layout except for that tracking thing. Some of that info shouldnt be public but thats just my opinion.

I know this site has many problems with logins, slowdowns, even outages. its basically buckling under its own success. As many sites on the net have done, take www.neowin.net it was very unstable for a long time, and almost shut down several times, all because it was to successful to much traffic for what it could handle and budget. But it got out of those rought times, im sure CKA will too, im not giving up like other webmasters have.

[This is the current situation:]
The site is run on a dedicated1.4Ghz Windows 2003 Rack Server (owned). currently has 512mb of ram, i have another 512 here, just need to get down to the datacenter to install it.

The server is almost always using more RAM than it has, the additional ram will help, but the MYSQL database will just eat up all the ram it can. This site is VERY database heavy, mostly due to some inificient code from the phpnuke source. I have added various tweaks to the code to reduce the number of database calls.

The servers CPU is also almost always at 100% usage, i think this is probably the biggest reason the site is so slow during peak times.
A site of this size and amount of visitors needs a faster server, the connection its hosted on is fine, its super fast, at the Peer1 datacenter at harbour center, downtown Vancouver. But a new server that can properly run this site will be 2-3 thousand dollars.

If i had the time and the help, my dream is to totaly redu the site from the ground up with all custom code, besides maybe the forum intrigration. But i can't see this happening soon, unless i get some very dedicated php or asp programmers volenteering to help me out.

This site pretty much currently and always has been ran and updated by my sole self, with the exception of a great moderator, RH.
I am very very happy about how popular the site has become, but at the same time a bit disapointed in the lack of support. I see other popular sites, with many members contributing posting and editing news, moderating forums, helping create the site, ect. This site has become oo big for me with the little time I have to manage. Specialy the forums, 2 moderators is not really enough for how large the forums are becomming.

[LOGIN PROBLEM]
This is my biggest headache, I have spent SO much time trying to fix this, its some really weird bug in phpnuke/php/mysql/server
I still don't really know what causes it, but i think i fixed it about a month ago by running the site with the CGI version of PHP. The only problem is the CGI version with this amount of visitors is DEADLY slow. So i switched it back to the ISAPI version, and with all my tests, the site was still working fine. But now the last week or 2, people are saying they are having problems logging in again. it would be great if someone could take some screenshots, so I can see if its the same issue.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Sorry if it sounds if im complaining, im not really, I just want the site to continue to grow and get rid of the problems it currently has. If you have and suggestions or want to help out, please!

the site is actually not that graphic heavy, specaily the forums, i spend a lot of time tweaking the graphics to make them small file size. the server slowness and amount of database calls is the reason for the site being slow.
