sorry to burst your bubble but theres nothing original about this flag..it predates nazism by well over a 1000yrs..it was a symbol of the hindu god ganesh,the god of fortune..however that particular depiction was kind of cool since it was accentuated by several exotic additions and was in noway connected to the morbid ideologies of the nazis..and if you check out my profile you'll see with my blond hair and blue eyes i'd practically be the poster-boy for the aryan nations..now am i honored..absolutely not...i am a slav and hitler said right in the same sentence that jews,gypsies and slavs are all subhumans worthy of extermination..actually i'm half british but i cant imagine hitler being impressed by that

I am far-right in that I support extreme laissez-faire capitalism, not fascism or national socialism. In America I would be called a libertarian--to a Dutchman like you I might be called an ultraliberal.
I think that national socialism is the most despicable ideological system ever devised (with the arguable exception of Marxism and all its derivatives).
That said, I won't deny that the Nazis had cool symbols, flags, and uniforms!

I didn't say it was original skipper, just that it looks cool. Swastikas are also present in classical Greek architecture, native american symbology, and just about every aesthetic system honored the swastika in one form or another. In the area where I grew up (Chicagoland), there is a Ba'hai temple, and the interior of the temple is decorate with swastika motifs in the masonry. You might say the Nazis ruined the fun for everyone else!

) My grandfather brought it back with him after the war. A souvenir I guess. Anyway if people really want it on the forum I don't really care it is just a flag. If you are going to add former flags why not add the red ensign?

I even think it is forbidden in Germany, as well as the Netherlands. It certainly is not appriciated.

The proper thing is to simply remove the flag of the USSR since that country no longer exists.

Fortunately in Canada (and here in America) we don't ban symbols just because they make some people queasy (though plenty of jerks try to make it happen--not necessarily with nazi symbols, but with other things).
A symbol has only as much power as you give it. If you can sit back and laugh at it, it devalues it--its power is removed.

it's a matter of respect, I'm not going to ask anyone to ban anything. But if someone flies a flag like that they know they will be offending people. You can scream freedom of speech all you want it's just a dick move to create controversy.
