I added another feature that no one will use, lol
but its there now incase someone did.
on the front-page at the bottom of the news links is a link "previous links".
Clicking this will show the previous links 200 per page, and will allow you to do back page by page.
Canadaka ... you are doing just a wonderful job around here.
I like the new "News Link" site and the way it becomes a forum under "Current Events." Anyway, really like this format.
Wondered if there was any way of editing or deleting a link once you post it? I posted a link this a.m., about Caledonia before I noted that it had been posted the previous day (Sunday). Then Scape came along and posted the same link. I would have taken mine down if I knew how?
This is a great site. So CANADIAN. I'm really enjoying it.
thanks for your comments Saskanna
I will try to get on editing newslinks tonight possibly.
But I did make a change. When you click a news link instead of the small veritcal bar that was at the top, there is now a wider horizontal frame that shows upto 5 comments and a small box to add your own comments. Hopefully this will promote more commenting on news links.
Looks good boss.
Wow, that is MUCH better.
works awsome on 1280*1024 resolution, not sure if it makes pages scroll horizontly much at 1024.
Not concerned about people with less than 1024, there is a very low percentarge according to the web logs. I don't know how you could browse the web at 800*600
Cka, I sure would like it if more people would comment on the news links. Makes it interesting to know what others are thinking and saying. Sometimes the news links are all I get time to read in a day.
Canadaka, with the flag as the new Canadian content identifier I was wondering if you could add a new column for the flag to appear in. I think it would make the headlines look alot tidier.
I was thinking about doing that.. I will try it out.
Looks much cleaner now.
I found the comment count to the right of the newslink would only say 1 even if there were 5 comments. I have fixed this, will show the correct number of comments now.
I also made it so the links you have visited will show up as grey, so you can tell which links you havn't checked out or are new.
How do people find the size of the news link font, and the spacing between each link? Is it too crowded? should there be more blank space betwen each link and maybe larger text?
The reason i made it the size it is was the colum is pretty narrow and didnt want lots of titles rolling over to the next line. But if it makes it easier to read for people I can change it.
hmm... Interesting stuff on CKA Radio!
ahh.... That's better!
Hard for me to say about line spacing and font etc. I am so used to it as it stands that a change would only screw me up.....not a huge challenge admitedly, but ya know
I added a new link to the main horizontal menu, under "News" there is a "Canadian News" link.
This goes to the news links page, like on the front-page but it takes up more of the site, its wider. So if you don't care to see the recent forum post block, picture comments block, reviews bloc, jokes block. You can bookmark this page or make this page your homepage, to view the news links more front and center.
