don't forget Sleemans Amber, in my opinion the best amber beer in the Liquor Board Store
DerbyX DerbyX:
What's your favourite kind of beer frosh!
Free Beer Sir!
Free beer is always the answer to that question.
I'll drink to that!
WDHIII WDHIII:
Wait....... since many of our breweries are now owned by outsiders define "CANADIAN BEER"!
Why is it an issue that outsiders appreciate quality beer? God forbid, but if I'm ever single again I'll be going to Canada for a
woman and a beer but not necessarily in that order! Canadian chicks rock!
In Nova Scotia, the land of beer and rum, the beer industry is basically owned by Labatt; Blue (Pilsner), Alexander Keith's (IPA and a new Red), Oland's (Ale) and Schooner (Lager) constitute the majority of beer consumed here.
Some local independent breweries, like Garrison and Propeller, are likely not much use to you in the US.
I prefer Clancy's Amber Ale, which is a Molson product from New Brunswick.

You've obviously never had to drink Budweiser or Coors, have you? They don't even make the
terrorists at Gitmo drink that shit but they'll subject the rest of us to it!
Hell yeah, I got a use for good beer!

Ah, there's plenty of use for our microbreweries, I just mean they won't be available to him....
I tried Budweiser for the first time this summer... they tell me that the Canadian brewed Bud is even stronger than the US stuff, and I still couldn't taste the beer.... it wasn't horrible like some of the European stuff, but that's because it's much like water and not so much like beer.
WDHIII WDHIII:
I never said it was an issue..... I just asked for the definition of "Canadian Beer"......
Coors is now brewed in Canada along with Budweiser....... are THEY considered Canadian?
I think it's fairly obvious which beers are Canadian.... even Molson is owned by Coors, but the beer hasn't changed.

Uhh isn't it a "partnership"? I don't think Coors completely owns Molson.

I finally found something I can agree with Derby about!
Free Beer rocks! ![Beers [BB]](./images/smilies/beers.gif)

Bud looks like frothy urine to me.

Yeah, "merged", I think, is the technical definition.
The way I heard it described, though, is that it was mostly Coors' "doing".... maybe this fact was down played by the fact that they know how patriotic we are about our beer.
I'm not really concerned about the huge corporations like Molson, so as long as the beer stays the same, I'm game.
Tman1 @ Tue Aug 30, 2005 1:34 pm
Yes, I must say my consumption of Molson has gone down "considerably" when I heard the (thanks for correcting me
) "merger" took place. Anybody know any beer that is actually "owned" by Canadians?

I'm pretty sure Labatt is, isn't it?

Thought it was owned by some Dutch company. Hmm maybe Moosehead or Alexander Keiths. Oh well, we brew it we drink it. Thats all that matters.

Ah, Moosehead is the oldest independent brewerie in Canada, and still based in St John's, I think.
Keith's is a Labatt product....
Either way, our beer is still at the top of the list, in my opinion. The only other place who knows beer from piss is the UK, but they're style is quite a bit different... pub ales and stouts, etc. I like them just as much as Canadian beer, but the widget adds a significant novelty factor...
