It seems to be journalists from places like the Toronto Sun but among the stories they cover they give us peeks behind the established media's guarded doors at what's really happening with the refugee crisis.
Here's one. A little lengthy but if you'd like to know where your tax money is going you might be interested. Especially if you're from Toronto.
Syrian who entered Canada illegally says “compared to the U.S., it’s five star”

A Syrian man staying at a taxpayer-funded hotel in downtown Toronto was living safely in Chicago for four years, but told True North that he came to Canada because “the US is a disaster, they don’t help at all — nothing.”
The man and his family crossed the border illegally at Roxham Road in rural Quebec and made their way to Toronto, where, according to the man, they now receive “five star” treatment compared to when living in America.
He is staying at the Studio 6 hotel in downtown Toronto.
“They provide everything. It’s good. Compared to U.S., it’s five star,” he says of the hotel, which offers refugee claimants cleaning services, telephone, WiFi, cable, laundry machines and a monthly food allowance of $600 for his family. Hotel units also include kitchenettes.
Refugee claimants mill in and out of Studio 6 hotel on a freezing Wednesday afternoon picking up their children from an elementary school less than a block away.
“It’s the worst scenario… I mean, imagine, asking for a co-sign,” says the middle-aged Syrian man outside the hotel entrance smoking a cigarette and braving the minus 18 Celsius temperature without gloves and his coat undone at the top.
He explains the difficulties of finding a landlord willing to sign an apartment lease to refugee claimants.
“I don’t have. So I have to beg all people from [my] country, and hopefully someone — he have to have good credit and all this, which I have nobody here.”
“The standard is $2,000 [for rent], nothing less,” he says. “To be honest, if I have the chance to live and make some money, I have to be close to [Toronto]. Let’s say I go to London, should I find something there do you think? I’m not going to find nothing.”
Before coming to Canada five months ago, the Syrian man, his wife and two young children lived in Chicago for four years after fleeing the civil war ravaging his country and devastating his former home city of Damascus. In Chicago, the man was an Uber driver but said living there was a constant struggle because they weren’t given anything from the U.S. government.
Eventually the man decided to take his family and illegally cross the border into Canada through Roxham Road, using the loophole that allows refugee claimant’s to bypass the safe third country agreement, which is supposed to force refugee claimants to make a claim and stay in the first safe country they enter.
Now, they’re living on the taxpayer’s dime — staying comfortably at the Studio 6 hotel for months at a time.
“We’re still negotiating an extension to this contact. The contract with the location started March 12, 2018,” says Toronto shelter support spokesperson Greg Seraganian about the deal between Studio 6 and the City, which is set to expire in March.
Studio 6 management didn’t respond to requests for comment.
The City is currently housing asylum seekers and local homeless in four Toronto hotels and an undisclosed number of motels.
True North reported two weeks ago that the Toronto Plaza Hotel and Radisson Hotel Toronto East were both closed to the public in order to help increase shelter space.
True North has now learned that North York’s Edward Hotel and downtown’s Studio 6 are also housing Toronto’s homeless and the burgeoning asylum-seeker population.
According to Studio 6 occupants interviewed by True North, more than half the guests at the hotel are asylum claimants — the majority coming from Nigeria.
“The City has always used motel beds as part of its shelter system,” says Greg Seraganian.
“More recently, the City added over 2,500 motel beds at its own cost to respond to this increased demand. From 2016 to the end of 2018, the City incurred over $65 million in costs to fund these additional beds.”
On February 1, the Trudeau government announced Canadian taxpayers would contribute a fraction of the added costs incurred from the influx, pledging an additional $15 million over the $11 million pledged last year. In late January, the Trudeau government announced another $114 million to the provinces affected by the influx of asylum seekers.
Every day another 18 to 20 asylum seekers enter the Toronto shelter system.
“As of January 20, 2019, there were 2,541 refugee/asylum claimants in the shelter system (37% of the total). As of the same date, the number of refugee/asylum claimants in the motel/hotel shelter program was 1,886,” said Seraganian, who also emphasized that space is available for anyone looking to come inside.
The Syrian man also discussed the problems he’s had finding a job in Canada.
“I got a workers permit, but how can you work at the time here? You need a fixed address first. And nobody will give you the damn things to move, unless you go to a super, super bad [place], maybe like basement. I can’t go basement, I have a son who has asthma, so he can’t live in basement,” says the Syrian man near the end of our conversation before he heads to pick up his daughter from junior kindergarten.
“It’s going to be hard in the beginning. We’re not lazy people.”
This is his last month — his family’s sixth month — at Studio 6 hotel before he and his family will be forced to move to another spot in the City’s overwhelmed shelter system.
The government lawyer he was provided with told him his refugee claim would be heard within six months, but the hearing has now been indefinitely delayed.
Back in Damascus he owned a printing house and was a graphic designer, but he believes he will only find work in his field in the GTA and wants to live in a neighbourhood with fellow Syrians.
Another refugee claimant standing outside of the Studio 6 who spoke to True North was 46 year-old Gustavo Hernandez, a Mexican who fled the city of Tabasco a few months ago. As reported exclusively by True North, he was one of the over 2,445 Mexicans that claimed asylum in the first 10 months of 2018 — a trend that has skyrocketed since Prime Minister Justin Trudeau waived the visa requirement for Mexican visitors in 2016.
“We move to Hamilton next week, because it’s cheaper than Toronto,” says Hernandez.
He and his wife decided to flee to Canada after his family received death threats due to his father-in-law’s work as a journalist. He is a graphic designer and university professor, and his wife is a chef. He says a lot of refugee claimants refuse to move outside of the GTA, but that he doesn’t mind moving outside of Toronto because he was told he should be able to find work in Hamilton.
Another Canadian man staying at Studio 6 also spoke to True North.
“I’ve been on the road for four years, I’m not used to all these kids,” says a construction project supervisor from Peterborough in his late fifties. “We’re on the road and in motels. They thought it would be a change [to stay in a hotel], but it kind of showed better [on the website] than it actually is.”
“Everyone is selling their houses here and buying [in Peterborough]. Our housing there was $200,000. Now it’s $500,000, almost $600,000 in [only] a few years.”
“Now that they’ve opened the doors to the refugees, Syrians, and it’s a big fight there right now because if a house comes up for rent, and people are looking for houses, and, you know, they fill out the application and everything else. And housing there is $1,600 to $2,000 … because of the colleges. And as soon as they see — they’ll give them to the refugees because they know the money is guaranteed right from the government.”
“But there was actually a family busted [for fake refugee claims]. They had two brand new vehicles in the garage and everything else. And they had refugee status. Back home, from the corner of us.”
“It just leaves a bad taste in everybody’s mouth.”

Under the newly designed programs, caregivers will be given greater flexibility to change jobs quickly, if needed. Current barriers that prevent caregivers' family members from coming with them to Canada will also be removed, and open work permits will be offered to their spouses and common-law partners as well as study permits for dependent children.

How much has Justin Trudeau’s invite to the world’s migrants cost Canadian taxpayers?

Since Prime Minister Trudeau tweeted an open invitation to the world’s migrants, thousands have accepted the invitation.
Rather than securing our borders or even discouraging migrants from crossing into Canada illegally, the Canadian government has allowed thousands of migrants entry into Canada. Less than 1% of illegal border crossers have been deported.
As a result, in order to accommodate the illegal border crossers, Canadian taxpayers are on the hook for billions of dollars.
There have been endless reports on the cost of illegal border crossers, but it is unclear whether the federal government will develop a plan to stop the flow of illegal border crossers or if they will continue throwing money at the problem caused by the Prime Minister.
This report is intended for Canadian taxpayers to keep track of the costs:
According to the non-partisan Parliamentary Budget Officer, processing illegal border crossers alone will exceed $1.1 billion next year.
The RCMP has spent over $6.6 million in overtime and maintaining a satellite office for processing illegal border crossers.
Since 2016, the Canadian Border Services Agency has deported seven people using chartered flights, costing taxpayers a total of $821,157
The 2018 federal budget devoted $173.2 million over two years to support intake of illegal border crossers
43 residents near Roxham Road are eligible for a total of $375,000 in compensation for increase in traffic and “disturbances”
On June 1st, the federal government pledged $50 million in aid for provinces and municipalities affected by illegal migrants
July 16th, the Liberals announce that $11 million in aid will go directly to the city of Toronto to compensate for housing and shelter shortages due to illegal migrants
At the start of 2019, the federal government revealed a plan to give the provinces another $114 million in extra funds to deal with the situation
On January 25th, 2019, the federal government provided the city of Toronto with an additional $15 million to address shelter shortages due to illegal border crossers

Here's how America deals with Illegal border jumpers going the other way - Canada into the US.

Swanton Sector Border Patrol agents apprehended 10 migrants after they illegally crossed the Canadian border into New York. The apprehensions came in a series of disrupted human smuggling attempts.
Burke Station agents patrolling near Fort Covington, New York, came upon a group of seven men who illegally crossed the border from Canada into the U.S. All of the migrants allegedly admitted to Border Patrol agents that they had no documentation to be legally present in this country, according to information obtained from Swanton Sector Border Patrol officials.
Officials identified five of the migrants as Mexican nationals. One of the other men reported dual citizenship with Algeria and France, while the seventh migrant is a native of Spain.
The U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of New York will be filing charges against four of the men for illegal entry without documentation ( 8 USC 1325). Officials identified two of the others as previously deported illegal aliens. The U.S. Attorney is expected to file felony charges for illegal re-entry after removal (8 USC 1326). The seventh migrant will be processed administratively and turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) officers for expedited removal proceedings.
Later that same day, agents assigned to the Swanton Sector Tactical Communications Center notified agents in the field that three people were illegally crossing the border into the U.S. near Chateaugay, New York. Agents responded and quickly apprehended two of the migrants. The third migrant fled to avoid apprehension, officials reported.
The agents carried out a search and eventually apprehended the third migrant.
One of the migrants initially apprehended reported to be a Mexican national while the second is a native of Nicaragua. Agents turned all three men over to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for prosecution on immigration violations.
“It is through teamwork, intelligence and technology that our agents were able to apprehend these illegal aliens and bring them to justice,” Swanton Sector Acting Chief Patrol Agent William Maddocks said in a written statement. “I’m proud of the commitment of our agents as well as the staff at our Tactical Communications Center, and equally appreciative of the partnerships that we have with the U.S. Attorney’s Office, ICE and ERO.”

Liberals to spend $283 million on refugee healthcare funding

Tucked away in the 2019 Liberal budget was nearly $283 million intended to cover the healthcare costs of asylum seekers and illegal border crossers.
Asylum seekers are granted taxpayer funded healthcare while their applications are still processed. Even those whose claims are eventually rejected and are deported by the end of the process have access to the free healthcare.
According to the latest numbers, approximately 20,000 people have crossed into Canada in2018 alone.
In Canada, refugee and asylum claimants are legible for the Interim Federal Health Program (IFHP) which “includes basic, supplemental and prescription drug benefits”. Among the things covered in the basic IFHP policy includes psychiatric treatment, abortions, plastic surgery and other serious and minor treatments.
In one startling case, a man from Beirut who crossed illegally into Canada along the U.S. border was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer once he arrived after being treated by Canadian doctors.
The man Taha El Taha, was allowed to bring the rest of his family into Canada on temporary Visas after the illness was discovered so that they might spend their last moments together.
Since coming into power, the Liberal government has implemented several changes to its immigration system which would negatively impact the cost and effectiveness of Canada’s universal healthcare..
In 2018, the Liberal government announced that it was removing certain restrictions which would prevent potential immigrants with serious health conditions from entering into the country.
According to the new policy, the anticipated health care cost per immigrant would be raised to three times the previous threshold.
The Liberal government has also made family reunification a mission after being elected, making it easier for elderly relatives to join their families in Canada, despite Canada’s rapidly aging population.

Now, here's one I find fascinating. Not because I know it to be true but because it could be and we wouldn't know about it. The mainstream media does appear to sit on its hands on local stories like this one. Or if they do tell you about them they leave out the juicier details:

So...what appears to want to present itself as some sort of local Thunder Bay Ontario media claims a few of Trudeau's invited guests have been bad boys. This is not the first time this sort of thing has happened in Trudeau's Canada. This time these three particular examples of Canadian refugee malfeasance are accused of smuggling fentanyl. They're in court for it anyway according to the report.
Other internet media have reported this. Something appears to be happening in a Thunder Bay court regarding these three perps. Will the whole truth about them ever be presented from a mainstream source?
Doubtful.
I hear reports like this more than you'd think. I may start to archive them here just so you know how many there are.

In its story about thousands of caravan migrants encountering a slow-walk for "humanitarian" visas of passage to the U.S. from Mexican officials, Reuters let out a doozy of a detail way down in its story about the matter:
"At the border town of Tapachula, near the southern tip of Mexico bordering Guatemala, another group included people from Sri Lanka, Congo and Haiti, a federal official said. Some migrants said Mexican officials had slowed down the process of awarding the visas or denied them outright without providing any explanation.
A small group lashed out at border officials in Tapachula on Tuesday over the delays, throwing rocks and breaking windows of a local migration institute building."
Lovely bunch, aren't they, with their demands for instant customer service from Mexican officials?
They've obviously got a lot of money for plane flights to places like Mexico along with cartel smuggler fees, therefore they are accustomed to such service. In fact, they are convinced they are entitled to it, same as they get at the Hertz counter. When they don't, they resort to road rage–style brick-throwing.
What it suggests is that the caravans have gone global. They've been marketed in the press and by its NGO allies and by the Catholic Church as a Central America thing, but they're now attracting far more than Central Americans. The world was watching closely as President Trump dealt with the border debacle with the arrival of the first Central American caravan late last year — and everyone could see that leftist judges and congresspeople defeating him every time, unable to keep the illegal migrants out. And with Europe cracking down on the big migrant waves and sending the boats back to Libya and elsewhere, the migrants with money have decided they'll come here through Mexico, too. They've concluded it's a can't-lose proposition.
They represent a far bigger migrant market — and cartel profit center — than just the entire Central American bloc. So, instead of 1.5 million migrants from Central America expected to arrive here this year — the number can swell enormously higher. These global migrants can see the loopholes that enabled people such as ungrateful Honduran "Lady Frijoles," recently charged with assault with a deadly weapon in Dallas, to come here scot-free. Asylum claims give any asker at least three free years of working in the U.S. as they await a judge's decision about their claims, meaning being sent back still yields three free years of working in America, and with instant customer service from U.S. officials, all at zero cost.
Compare and contrast to what U.S. legal immigration takes — ten years of waiting in line for service, thousands of dollars of costs, lots of lost paperwork from U.S. officials, and no free time working in America as they await claims.
What's a migrant going to do? Europe's pulling up the drawbridge. America is letting everyone in for free. If leftist judges and U.S. congressional leftists thought that freebie for Central Americans was going to stay with Central American migrants alone, they had another thing coming. Plane flights are cheap and frequent now.
Build an open border — and they will come.
