We can afford to be more selective.

We can be more selective and still get 300,000 + a year.

Amen! Back in my CIC/CBSA security screening days I'd complain about this to my boss often. He agreed but optics and politics and votes in the major centres didn't. So we'd find criminality or bogus stories and reject the application just to have it re-instated on compassionate or family reunification reasons.

But hey Eyebrock. Just keeping you boys in business. You're welcome!

What a load of bollocks propaganda.

When you go overseas, people don't say; "Canadian? Oh you guys are famous for multiculuralism."

Lefty lies, just like you guys wanted us to be famous for 'peacekeeping' even though we contributed less than Bangladesh for decades.

This falls into the category of 'say the lie often enough and you believe it's the truth.'

So answer the question then. What "Canadian" national identity are the immigrants destroying? Are we not playing hockey any more, are the curling rinks shutting down? Do we have less snow, colder summers, less beer, are our dollar bills and coins inundated with dark skinned or slant eyed people?

Well in one case it caused us to have less people. Sparing the background details I'll mention the family from sierra leone who have a very questionable refugee application. In fact it was believed they were perpetrators of the problems there yet portraying themselves as the victims. Since we could not get 100% accurate evidence against them our refusal was overturned since the family had to be given the benefit of the doubt plus they have family here already and it would be mean to keep them apart. They came here and a few years later one of their kids shot and killed a Canadian and we still have not deported this guy. By not going on to the next 100 valid unquestionable applications we allowed one that stunk to come in and it cost us one of our own. But no worries, the refugee family got to be together.

As a post-script to this as I had the misfortune of being the killer's case worker. He killed this guy just months after a jail term and no deportation. When I saw him after the murder I mentioned to him how he blew away his freedom pretty quick and he just laughed about it. Now we get to pay $100,000 a year to keep this guy in the system.

Don't think this is an isolated case either. They may not all lead to murder but there is still a cost that could have been avoided by not being bleeding hearts and leaving the screening judgment to those who know how to do it.

Where did I say anything about 'destroying'? You should avoid putting words in peoples mouths.

My point was that pretending to to define ourselves by 'multiculturism' is an oft repeated, bright and shining lie. Saying it again still makes it a lie.

Who is pretending? Have you looked out the window lately? As a Canadian Multiculturalism is very important to me and I enjoy having coworkers, friends and neighbors who are from diverse backgrounds.

We have a Multiculturalism Act, and the rights of minorities and the English and the French and the Natives are all protected by the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Signed for by the beloved Brian Mulrony...I am not sure who of you is pretending. As far as I can tell its only the few of you here in this forum.

Sorry for putting words in your mouth. You responded to my reply to sheperdsdog who did in fact claim:
$1:
multiculturalism.....creating a ghetto near you soon, as it destroys a national identity
It was wrong of me to assume that you had actually read the conversation that you quoted.

Oh I can read. Again, you should be careful who you attribute quotes to.

In this case you quoted somebody else and attributed it to me. It makes you less credible when you talk shit.

People that come here and settle in places like Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta do so because they want to work. The ones that settle in Vancouver and the GTA do so because there are lots of others "like them" in those cities. I question their reasons for being here.
You gotta give props to the Filipinos in Winnipeg though. Moving from the tropics to Canada's coldest city because there's lots of work in the area. That's someone seriously interested in trying to make a better life for themselves.

ShepherdsDog @ Fri Apr 05, 2013 5:34 am

It's not just Winnipeg. The Filipinos are moving into smaller communities throughout southern Manitoba and are opening businesses and becoming part of the community

Sorry about that. As I read through the thread I do not see me attributing a quote to you in error. Can you let me know at what point you see that. And there is no need for hostility and swearing, as I do not believe either of us is a teenage child.

If I have offended you by misquoting you I am sorry - please let me know what has offended you.

Overall, I think that we need to restrict immigration. Lots of the bullies in my old high school were Somalian.

We must remember that intellectualism, gender equality and LGBT tolerance are products of Western Culture. Western Culture is the culture that began in Ancient Athens and later spread throughout Europe. It soon reached Israel, Australia and North America.

If we want to preserve our LGBT rights and gender equality then we need to be careful. People from the Middle East often know nothing about Western Culture.

I wonder why noobs have the irresistible urge to necro-post. [huh]

Serious post by the new dude though apparently. It wasn't re-activated to sell us shoes, bogus phishing philters, or illegal passports so I guess it's OK.

I was bullied by an FN boy in grade school who had already flunked a couple of grades. Pretty hard to restrict immigration of FNs, pretty stupid to restrict immigration based on whether you were bullied by immigrants or native born.

I think there are good economic reason to vary immigration according to the economic situation in Canada, not just take in large numbers no matter what, but it seems the entire political spectrum in Canada disagrees with that.

Karma, and then some, caught up with Jim John (or was it John Jim?) anyway. I heard he got drunk and passed out on the tracks, and the train cut his legs off.
