I was wondering what the designator for the GlobeMasters was going to be.
So, CC-177 it is.
Forever to be refered to as 701, if the Sea Kings are any gauge of Air Force habits
Nice pics Mario. Thanks.

The aircraft's actual number, like a ship's hull number. This one is 177701, the next one will be 702 etc etc.
Right Mario? LOL

That's what I thought it was............. but I must be seeing the same one many times though. I should check a few of my pictures but I could have sworn 401 or 410 was on the nose of many of them.

That could be a squadron number. Not sure what squadrons have the Hornets but all Canadian squadrons are numbered in the 400's.

it is its serial.... Canada is getting 4 of them... on their tail, you will see, 177701 to 177704. Auroras are 140101 to 1401XX, Seakings are 124401 to 1244XX

So what is the nose number?
I looked through some of my pictures and found some others with 900's. We have lots of them fly in and out of here so maybe I just happened to have seen the same one a few times and it stuck in my mind. Also many of the ones I've seen here are the two seaters so maybe it has something to do with training?
The nose number is just the last 3 of the tail... part of the serial number. When we do maintenance on any birds... we always use the nose number as a reference.
