Tweeter and the Monkey Man is one that always makes one of my buddies go off. I like the cover, he can't stand it. He's one of the Nazi types that claim the original is ALWAYS better.
Yeah, I'm on the fence about "Tweeter...". Depends on my mood, I guess. But I prefer the original.
Robair Robair:
To each his own... if anybody posts any cover of "Life is a Highway", I personally think they should be banned from the internet.
I feel the same about Guns 'n' Roses butchery of "Knockin' on Heaven's Door", which would be the worst cover in history if not for their even worse treatment of "Live and Let Die". Sounds like Ethyl Merman singing with her tit in the wringer.
It's funny you used the Disturbed cover Robair because they have at least two covers on each of their albums and I hate it because they're no good at it.
And I thought they did a really good job of that one!
I figured this thread might start some debates, kind of why I started it.

Haven't heard some of these, will have to give this thread a listen this weekend.
Technically as a rock listener I'm supposed to hate them for all their schmaltzy soft-pop tendencies. Not too many other singers I've ever heard though were able to drag a note out the way Karen Carpenter could, like when she sang "guitaaaaarrrr".
vs.
It's a great cover but I doubt anything can really match the strength of the vocals in the original.
