A state of constant dread - Poverty Today
Firecat @ Mon Jan 15, 2007 11:41 am
A Liberal is one who treats others as he would like to be treated; a Conservative is one who treats others as he can.
Liberalism is a philosophy of community; Conservativism is a policy of self-interest.
A Liberal says 10% of his neighbours living in poverty is unacceptably high;
A Conservative figures as long as he's not one of them, tough on them.
A Liberal is generous; a Conservative is selfish.
It is worthy of note that Quebec (always a bastion of Catholics) was also a bastion of Liberal politics.
Liberals are better Christians.

It's always a comfort to the right wing to discount statistics as though that somehow makes the problem go awa, because it's easier be unmoved by a number like (let's say 10% if they don't like 15%) How many is that? 3 MILLION people.
3 MILLION in the worlds leading economy.
How is that tolerable to people?
Exactly thats why I started the thread Canada , Canadas , or incidental Nafta Referendum . It was in hopes that people would realize how reckless we are with this country .

Those sweeping generalizations are making you sound frighteningly like Always4Iggy. Is that what you want?
I'd also say that you're reliance on statistics is a load of hooey. By you're push polls, you Liberals expected to win the last election.

Read the posts of Liberals here then read the posts of Conservatives and you'll see these observations are exactly what I see here.
If you don't liker the truth, tough. Your posts speak for themselves; so do SJ's - so do your friend wanker's
If you want to be seen as kindhearted and generous try msaking a few of your posts kind-hearted and generous..
I calls 'em as I sees 'em
So far I've been called a prude, had my sexuality and my sex questioned - only by Cons. Never by Liberals.
If you don't want people to think you're a a party of jerks, don't act like jerks.
If you don't like being lumped in as rascist homophobes, dewnounce racism and homophobia when our friend wanker spews it.
Simple, no?
(That's why Harper won't let his MPs speak - he knows they reveal the Party's true colours because whenever they speak their mninds it is repellant to tolerant, generous Canadians who are the majority
(add up the support for Libs and NDP and there are far more left-leaning Canadians than right-wingers.

When I arrived on this site (some might remember) I was quite non-partisan and had a lot of respect for Conservatives, believing everyone at heart is a person of good will. That belief was quickly dispelled by the continual streams of bile from consrvatives here.
I no longer believe the majority of Conservatives are people of good will, The posters here taught me that.
I don't recall ever having a problem with you and I don't recall ever swearing or calling you names, in a serious way.
Don't let me get in the way of a good hissy fit though..

actually you did on the night of your bender and you freaked out over a few libs saying nice things about Ruez. You insulted him too. Not surprising you don't remember
You have remained silent while your colleagues have been vile - that makes you guilty too.
Call it a "hissy fit" if you want, if that comforts your conscience against the truth.

Sounds familiar to my own take on CKA's conservatives, for the most part. An internet forum isn't a very close representation of the real world, though - at least I hope.

I'm not so sure about that - here people feel free to speak what they really feel because it' has no direct repercussions . It is when we feel most anonymous that our true selves are revealed.

Not really I'm the same on a forum and in person. But that is probably true for some people.

Banff, thank you for those kind words. I hardly think name calling is called for. But if you must, and it makes you feel better about your miseable life, go for it. I sure hope it took the sting out of the fact you were highly underpaid for being a supervisor of 1000 people. Man, knowing that has to really smart!

My guess is that CKA's membership isn't quite an accurate reflection of the larger world (no single site's membership could be) but yeah, this medium is perfect for those wanting to live out some of their twisted Walter Mitty fantasies. Maybe guys like hwacker behave like mild, gentle nebbishes in the real world.
