So I watched all of it. :)

Well my snyopsis is the following:

Kevin Taft came off as an angry old man. I think he did poorly. The Alberta Liberals needed to deliver that knockout punch to Ed Stelmach, but they never were able to do that.

Ed Stelmach obviously isn't that great of a public speaker, and is not a very inspiring or charismatic man. He came off quiet, but he came across with his points, and did okay.

As for Paul Hinman and the Wildrose Alliance, Mr. Hinman did well tonight in my opinion! He talks a bit fast, but I would say he is the most charismatic out of all them and he hit home some good points. I liked how he kept on the ball about "throw money at more programs" and hitting home the point that we need to give tax breaks, not throw money at more programs. And the daycare point would have come off good for the rural areas, where (quite frankly) the Wildrose Alliance has its only chance. But it was an achievement for Mr. Hinman to be even included in that debate.

Mason and the NDP, well obviously he is the most comfortable up their, but the NDP is pretty irrelevant.

So I guess I would say the "winner" tonight would be the W.A. for the good performance and good publicity, he came off as a viable conservative alternative.

Again in my opinion the best situation would be PC Minority, with balance of power to the W.A., but to be realistic I predict a decreased PC Majority, with a handful of rural seats going to the W.A. (possibly giving them party status in the Legislature), NDP hanging onto their seats, and the A.B. Libs maybe gain a small number of seats in Calgary and Edmonton.

You must have been the only person watching it

lol...CTV Edmonton, Global Edmonton, CBC Edmonton, CTV Calgary, Global Calgary, CBC Calgary, and CPAC all were airing it. I think they would have had a reasonable viewer count.

I can understand Taft being an angry man, I'm pretty pissed about 37 years of government staggering about with no rhyme or reason. The only good thing about the last 37 years was that Klein was amusing when he'd get good and drunk, then he decided to sober up, no wonder he only got 55% of his party's vote!

The PCs have been good in Alberta, but they have outlived their climax. Stelmach is a less-than-inspiring leader, who is too progressive, rather than Conservative.

Its time for a new dynasty in Alberta...hopefully that dynasty will be the Wildrose Alliance by next election.

Nothing per se (not being born then makes it difficult to compare) but just on principal, almost four straight decades is much too long for any party to be in power. The PC's just have the added drudge of being poorly lead in the last few years (the one's I've been cognizant of and alive for).

Possibly, but I wouldn't mind Alberta meandering about Centre or even Centre-Left of spectrum, just to change it up a little. We've been too Right lately and a dose of Left could be a shot in the arm to our government.

So you don't base your opinion on your experience but rather the perceptions and opinions of others.

Hmm, you have pretty conservative views...why no CPC logo by your avatar? :P

Well Conservatives in the cities (Calg. and Edmt.) are pretty much stuck between PC or staying home.

W.A. only really has chance in non-Calgary/Edmonton ridings.

I think the PCs have gone to left wing and moderate under Stelmach, thats why I agree...thinks need to be shaken up.

I wouldn't mind a PC Minority, to give the PCs a kick in their asses to shape back up.

But I am no so desperate to want Kevin Taft and the A.B. Liberals in power! :P

Taft is done after he loses this election (unless the PCs go down to minority, if that occurs, he may stick it out...)
