as far as the substance abusers go..YES..they do deserve to die in the gutter..and you'd feel the same way if you were stabbed by a crackhead over a measly 40$
I feel your pain and anger. I have also been the victim of both violent attack as well as burglary. The perpetrators of such transgressions deserve to die. However, I take issue with your point. Not all muggers and other violent criminals are substance abusers, nor are all homeless violent. The wastes of flesh and oxygen that would stab another person for any reason, let alone for $40 gain, all deserve a horrible fate, whether they be homeless substance abusers or not. If Bill Gates stabbed somebody for $40, I'd want to see him strung up on the nearest tree just as I would some bum that stabbed an innocent person.

WindyCity WindyCity:
Have you heard of the working poor? What does the average apartment cost to rent in Calgary ? (do you have any idea) It is easy to pass an uneducated opinion. A good number of those "slack asses" work as hard if not considerably harder than the "privelaged ones " that can judgementally look down their noses at them. Not all the homeless are poor and down and out by their choice.
WindyCity..you'll never know how sympathetic i am to your situation for the simple reason that not only have i heard of the working poor..but i know all too well of the "welfare rich".your premier klein had the right idea when he completely slashed welfare while where i live(sask) is the #1 province for welfare...all you need are kids and youre set for life here and i know 1st hand of these vermin who conceive children for no other reason than to maximize welfare benefits...so there they are living in a 140,000$ house(which is pretty cozy by regina standards),living on take-out food and spend all day drinking beer, shooting up coke and partying in general..and heres the part that really sucks..when theyre out shopping for something like brand new furniture or a car the red carpet is rolled out for them..even more so than a working person for the simple reason that you can get fired or laid off from work...welfare is a very permanant arrangement..in fact in sask you can get a credit card with welfare being your sole source of income..how whacked is that??..i would unequivocally state than in sask the incentive in much greater to be on welfare than it could ever be to work..providing you have the moral bankruptcy to bring unwanted children into the world..BUT..and heres the part i love..theres a provincial election coming up in the very near future and our current NDP(the strongest proponents of welfare) are totally screwed..but Windy..continue to live a honorable life..your plight will be dealt with sometime..wish i could say when..but just some food for thought...the cost of living is much much less here in sask and when brad wall and his sask party win the next election opportunities will be galore so by knowing this you can perhaps get a head jump..and please keep in mind..regardless of what you do for a living i have total respect for you..hope i provided some moral support for you

Dubyah...thanks for your understanding..i guess its a bit tough to be unbiased when youve had a knive at your throat and saving your own life meant grabbing the knive resulting in a total of 12 stitches in your fingers..and this for only 40$??..now i dont know how it is in the usa.but here in canada when youre charged with armed robbery with violence its automatic prison time...the amount of money doesnt enter the equation..be it a 7-11 store or an armored truck the sentence remains the same..now this 1% you speak of..get this...this homeless man in vancouver found a purse with several thousands of $s in it..what did he do..he called the police to make sure it was returned to the rightful owner..he even refused to give his name since he didnt want a reward..for whatever reasons he chose this lifestyle..go figure!!!
