[quote="Blue_Nose"]Let me summarize for those who don't read ingorantese:
a) creationism is "more likely true than false"
b) women are just a fragment of men
c) belief in science is inherently immoral
d) homosexuality is comparable to rape and murder
Holy fuck, of all Banff's posts I actually tried to read, it had to be this one.[/quote
BLUENOSE :You are so blind it is hard to believe if you even know whether you are coming or going . just a Fragment ? Immoral ? Comparable ? ...Fuck are you dosy.
Yes Banff; 'fragment', 'immoral', and 'comparable' are all words.
If I misinterpretted your little diatribe, by all means correct me.
I am against gay marriage. Am I against the gay part?
Most definitely not - I believe everyone should be able to live free.
It's the marriage part that catches my eye. Marriage is a religious practice - it is something that was created and is held in the belief system of all practicing Christians, Muslims, Hindus, et al.
All of these religions specifically state in their respective rules that they are unquestioningly opposed to homosexuality, let alone marriage.
Therefore, gay marriage is a farce. All of the major religions disapprove of it.
Civil Unions, on the other hand, provide all of the same economic, social, and emotional benefits.
Therefore, I believe that civil unions are the answer. Also, before you get a chance to call me a religious fundamentalist, etc, I am an agnostic who just feels that with this entire gay marriage thing, the right to religion is being infringed upon.
a.do you have otherwise proof against creationism especially for those here who no thing about the bible or do you exist because you do therefore you do ?
b.women are NOT "JUST FRAGMENTS"
c.science is "NOT" immoral
d. please realise in your little brain that Homosexuality has always existed
I'm sure if you reread you will understand this
What the fuck are trying to say there Blunose ???Your referances are in your little pea brain and that happens to be what you think I said or are just too stupid to realize this or anything I said .
I have heard of 'sentence', thanks. I made a 'summary' (look it up) of your post, and happened to do so with words that mean the same thing, but aren't exactly the same. It was awfully mean and tricky, but I did it.
I don't care if you address the other points, but I'm sure as hell not going to let you get away with this one.
Read it again, in case you forgot. I'll wait.
Banff: Shut up, I want to debate this with BlueNose.
almost correct on everything for BlueNose
I have to get to work now so we'll choice of rationalize or flame later if you want .
People seem to focus on the religious aspects of marriage on whether it deems gay marriage right or wrong according to scriptures. Marriage is a contract which is upheld and supported by religion however not tied soley to religion.
St Augustines The Good of Marriage portrays the traditional marriage in Christianity as the model of one man, one women marriage. This model is followed up to the 21st century and most likely beyond.
Religion is and always has been important to marriage but it was not binding as the ancient Greeks and Romans would say. Religion was more based on ones own personal experience and beliefs instead of an organized religion telling them what is right and wrong. There were no homosexual marriages back then because producing children was the most important particular even though they recognized homosexuality as being a part of life. Germanics believed in the marriage contract and the Pagan gods were in the background.
People can believe what they want, gay marriage, no gay marriage, it's up to them. But saying the church has the ultimate say on the matter is wrong because there are a lot of people out there who don't give a damn what the church says.
The word marriage may be taken to denote the action, contract, formality, or ceremony by which the conjugal union is formed or the union itself as an enduring condition. In this article we deal for the most part with marriage as a condition, and with its moral and social aspects. It is usually defined as the legitimate union between husband and wife. "Legitimate" indicates the sanction of some kind of law, natural, evangelical, or civil, while the phrase, "husband and wife", implies mutual rights of sexual intercourse, life in common, and an enduring union. The last two characters distinguish marriage, respectively, from concubinage and fornication. The definition, however, is broad enough to comprehend polygamous and polyandrous unions when they are permitted by the civil law; for in such relationships there are as many marriages as there are individuals of the numerically larger sex. Whether promiscuity, the condition in which all the men of a group maintain relations and live indiscriminately with all the women, can be properly called marriage, may well be doubted. In such a relation cohabitation and domestic life are devoid of that exclusiveness which is commonly associated with the idea of conjugal union.

This is just a smidgen of what can be found by googling - history of "marriage". It's not as though at least some basic research is so difficult, especially with the web, eh!
Wow; I'm surprised the "Catholic Encyclopedia" has no mention of religion in their definition.
