More Left Wing Lunacy From the Toronto Board of Education
Dayseed Dayseed:
Ah Derby,
On the Comment Corner Weekly Poster Awards, I singled out Dummy Matt for an award wherein he called upon the Canadian Forces to murder Afghani teens such that situations like Guantanamo Bay needn't be needed. I believed he called it the "good old days"..
That's a lie!
I never advocated the murder of "Afghan teens!"
I was saying the troops should have murdered Omar Khadr when he was captured in battle in Afghanistan. Khadr is
Canadian (sort of), not Afghani.
I'm suggesting they should have killed a
Canadian. Not an Afghani.
Get your facts right.

Thats much better. Advocating that our troops should have executed a prisoner in cold blood.
You are quite frankly exactly the same as any common muslim extremists.

Oh well. If they want to play with the big boys....
By the way, don't think for a second the troops in Afghanistan haven't sent a few Jihads off to get their 72 virgins under such circumstances either.

Riiiiiiiiight, good defence. You didn't advocate the murder of a "true" Afghani, just the murder of a brown teen.
Bravo Bigot Matt. Somewhere Mel Gibson is drunk and smiling.
Afro-centrism and native-centrism is stupid. We already spend tonnes of history time on black, native and feminist history.
and as for the other subjects.. it appears that there is just an attempt to develop hate agaisnt whites by blacks. Ahh the left, manipulating kids to hate the police and every white guy so when problems occur later they can slag on the police and social policies.
Derby,
You want more evidence of Dummy Matt's racism? Check out his little tirade here. Pay close attention to the end where he actually takes the time to rank cultures and provide a brief rationale. Dummy Matt would probably have felt more at home in the 30's. In Europe. Germany to be specific.

It's hard to believe when one watches a bunch of talking primates running around setting fire to embassies and Mcdonald's restaurants in their cities, preaching death to "America" and slapping themselves in the face over a cartoon, but up until the 15th century, the Islamic world was actually more civilized and more advanced than the west.
People who believe in the teachings of Mohammed are
talking primates? And secondly, is this going to be arrogant social darwinism permeated by gross ignorance? 'Cuz hey, nationalism died in the last century. Feel free to pick up that antiquated banner though.
Already the term "west" is being bandied about without definition and the author seems to use the terms "Muslim" and "Arab" interchangably with little regard to the vast gulf of difference between the terms. So, "Muslims" in the "West", you ignorant primates had better listen up to Ash here.
$1:
In fact, back when we were burning witches at the stake and intimidating people like Galileo into silence, Islam was inventing things like algebra and free trade.
That's a fact is it? You've said more about your gross ignorance of the history of Algebra. Algebra started in Egypt almost 2,000 BCE and has been adopted and improved upon by significant cultures, like the Babylonians, Greeks and Hindus up until the Arabs conquered the Hindu lands and brought it back to what is now the Middle East. Also, when was Galileo intimidated into silence? Do you mean
Copernicus? Moreover, Galileo was being tried in the
17th Century while Arabs were conquering the Hindu lands in the
7th Century How is
1,000 years the SAME TIME?!? Don't let little things history and facts get in the way of the ignorance tirade!
$1:
I think that, more than anything, leads us to the present divide between Islam and the west. The societies that formed out of the "fertile crescent" were the first advanced civilizations in world history.
What about Mulsims living IN the West? Let's skip that one, huh.
$1:
As a result, Muslims tend to be a proud people.
You've gone and attributed the creation of civilization (I assume it's Jericho to which you refer) by those people to the modern day Arabs or your interchangeable term Muslim? That is without doubt a grave error! It's the same as asserting that modern day Italians are Romans or Etruscans or modern day Americans are native tribes. If you're going to base some of your thinking on the assumption that it's geography which is the main determinate in who is descended from whom, we're in for a loooong battle.
$1:
Unfortunately, in the modern age where television and the internet extend to the furthest corners of the planet, we have a situation where the people of Arabic and other Muslim nations are constantly reminded of how far behind their civilization has fallen.
Jesus Christ! Are you referring to culture or economics? Moreover, do you attribute this same thinking to Saudi Arabia?
$1:
In the last hundred years, the only thing of note that Islam has managed to invent and perfect is the suicide bomb. And they have to import the electronics and Semtex to do that.
Firstly,
Islam is the religion.
Muslims are the people you're disparaging. Not to put a dent in your racism here, but isn't OPEC a "thing of note" within the last 100 years?
$1:
And on top of that, the only reason they came up with suicide bombing is because they learned the hard way in Afghanistan and Iraq that taking on a modern western Army trained and equipped to stop a Soviet Armoured thrust through the Fulda Gap is tantamount to suicide anyway.
And here's the evidence...?
$1:
Unlike the North American First Nations or Africans, Muslims can't rely on the argument that their societies developed slower than western one's due to geographical or other reasons beyond their control.
Who the fuck from the North American Indians is holding court about why their civilization lagged behind the Europeans in terms of technology and commerce? Jesus AIDS Epidemic Christ!
$1:
At one time, Europe was behind Islam. But we figured it out, and we not only caught up, but surpassed them.
Figured WHAT out? And where did this "we" shit come from all of a sudden? It's now a game of "us" versus "them"? And "you" didn't figure fuck all out. People smarter, wiser and more curious than you figured it out and dragged your primitive rascist ass along.
$1:
Islamic culture's problem is that it's still stuck in the dark ages, while western civilization has figured out ways to allow it's citizens to acheive their maximum potential.
Ah, I see. I assume the word you're looking for here is "Meritorcracy." However, I challenge you to something here. Is Russia part of your absent definition of the "West" and do they have a meritocracy in place? Be careful!
$1:
And the more bombs they detonate, or embassies they burn, the more they illustrate my point.
Arabs are the only people in the world detonating bombs? Wow, I didn't know that before you said it.
The worst part is that Dummy Matt doesn't understand that he IS racist and he can only attribute it to HIMSELF. Thank God this is the internet and not a desert and we're not sufficiently brown to kick in Matt's Kill Colour tic.

Ah nostalgia. While I must admit, I enjoyed kicking you about on that thread you've just reprinted regarding the Danish Cartoon controversy, I fail to see why you want to relive it. Are you a masochist?
Regardless, I fail to see how it's relevant to this thread Dayseed.
I know it's hard, but, try to keep up.

I think what's happened is we've become so enslaved to the idea that multiculturalism is the defining trait of the Canadian identity, that it's beginning to cloud our judgement.
You see, for multiculturalism to warrant such an important place in the Canadian psyche, then it would have to have some basis in history. And really, until 30 or so years ago, Canada was an overwhelmingly white country. As a result, the vast majority of our history was created, for better or worse, by white men.
But it's not enough for the fundamentalist multiculturalists to just accept that and move on to the future. They want to re-write the history to suit their current political agenda.

Hamilton,
I do see your point and I can fully understand your frustration with some contentious (politically not necessarily academically) schools of thought within the curriculum. While I’ve never subscribed to single, or monolithic, ideological approaches (the ones your railing against are actually offshoots of the Annales School which advocates History from below – constructionism also relates) some do have their place depending upon the curriculum expectations.
The curriculum (at least from the secondary perspective, which I’m assuming you're basing your experiences) is quite balanced. It actually places a good deal of expectations on political/military themes, economic strands (again, very little ideological leaning) and nation-building enterprises. It also incorporates some constructionist elements, feminist approaches (not “radical”), ethno-studies and alternative analysis of economic problems. This, from a curricula approach, is fair.
Does it seek to readdress lost components of the historical narrative? Yes. But this, in no way, shape or form should be forced, overemphasized or skewed objectively. One, in secondary studies, cannot have a comparatively smaller brand of cultural studies pushed over others simply to address a contemporary agenda. This is counterproductive (although that, in many ways is dependent on what one’s philosophy of education is and how curriculum construction reflects it), historically questionable and pedagogically problematic. It’s not, however, “brainwashing” or thought control, if it has a legitimate historical purpose.
For example, curriculum expectations do include sections that allow locally developed initiatives to be used. If that means that a teacher in Toronto wants to focus on Lincoln Alexander as a lesson primer for a certain curricular expectation, they can. If an educator in Sarnia wants to invoke Murray Shafer for an Art and Culture unit, is that monumentally detrimental to Ontario secondary school expectations? I doubt it.
As long as the narrative isn’t being manipulated, falsified or mangled in such a manner that it becomes historically unsound, then it’s acceptable. Due to the subjective elements inherent within the study of history, it won’t ever be pristine or unbiased, but it should educate students about Canada – where we came from, how we got here and what makes us “Canadian”.

Ah, facts. Did you really enjoy "kicking me about" on that thread? Because, as I recall, you did nothing more than hide behind a self-imposed silent-treatment and commented nothing on the above post. Fuck Dummy Matt, it must hurt your ego to turn on the "applause" sign when you are your only audience.
The thread is relevant in that it exemplifies the sheer racism on which you operate. You're here arguing that afrocentric curriculum is abhorrent, but yet you defend the residential schools. What is to be made of that? Black kids learning black things is bad, but Indian kids being forced to learn white things is good? Fuck, you are one racist stain, aren't you dummy? And what do you base any of this on? Your 80's highschool miseducation? The same one that led you to attack the University of Guelph, fuck up the history of both Europe and Arabia and mash it poorly together?
Let's not forget that you further condoned the murder of a brown teen but patted yourself on the back because his citizenship is partly Canadian and therefore, you must not be racist. Wow, what an example you set.
$1:
Are you a masochist?
For the last fucking time, Dummy Matt, I don't want to meet you and your "wife". Quit asking.
$1:
Regardless, I fail to see how it's relevant to this thread Dayseed.
You fail to see a lot of things. Why should this be any different?
$1:
I know it's hard, but, try to keep up.
Thanks for repeating the advice your provincially funded and court-ordered Life Coach gave you, but it didn't seem to do you any good now did it?
Sigh.
Once again, I guess I'll have to ignore you Dayseed, as you've failed to present a position on this subject.
You've posted over half a dozen times on this thread, but not one of them stakes out a position from you on the subject.
I gave you plenty of chances this time Dayseed.
You'll just have to go bay at the moon somewhere else, because I just can't dumb down my posts further by responding to anymore of your childish attacks.
I notice Mustang's weighed in on the thread, and without taking a strong position on the subject one way or another, has still managed to offer something of substance.
Why can't you be more like that?
