Political Bias in News Media
Is it just me or has political bias in the news media here in Canada getting a little carried away? I try to scan through and read a few news papers from different parts of the country every morning just to check the pulse of people in other provinces. Over the past year or two I’ve just been blown away by what seems to me as a liberal slant on just about everything. The one that really stands out in my mind as being particularly bad for this is the Toronto Star. It’s almost as if these guys just make things up as they go. They seem to have some type of “A bad story a day will keep the Conservatives at bay” policy. And of course there is always the CBC, the greatest of the great liberal apologists, but I even notice it to a greater degree lately with CTV. I don’t really consider myself a “Liberal” or a “Conservative”. I don’t support political parties based on blind loyalty, rather I normally go with who I feel will represent best me based on my political views at the time. For the time being I support the Conservatives. The news media in Canada however seems to disagree with me and for some reason seems to be hell bent on setting me (and the other 30 or so percent of Canadians) straight on this matter. If the Toronto Star and the CBC want people to vote for the Liberals so badly why don’t they focus their attention on what the Liberals are doing wrong and put pressure on them to fix what is a blatantly apparent broken party? My guess would is that probably wouldn’t be as good for the ratings. Rather they seem to want to head the way of the U.S. news media which has become more of an editorial war zone filled with political parties slinging mud. What ever happened to reporting the facts and letting the informed viewer decide for themselves? Like I mentioned, I’m not sure but maybe it’s just me but I wouldn’t mind hearing what other people think of this topic.

agree the news media has been geting a little rediclous in recent years with its political coverage in general.
i'd say alot of media is more left wing to centre in political views .
but not all coverage is biased and still alot of good articles out there if you have the time to look around .
No it's not just you!
It is blatantly slanted----unless they are singing your song.
However from time to time the muses are heard.....like Mark Steyn.....to be pillaried by the various human rights commisions......for telling the truth.
I don't really notice it with CTV but if you want Liberal bias check out the A channel.
Not really. In BC, the Governing Party always gets the most attention/criticism from the News Media. As it should be, it's the Press's job to keep the Government on its' toes.

Or be a bunch of trained seals like CBC and the Red Star.

Read the stuff by Haroon Siddiqui in the TorStar. No matter what goes wrong in the world it's the fault of the US or Israel.

haven't noticed too many biased artilces on ctv website , but agree some of the a channels coverage has been less than great . and at times less than impressive . guess it can depend on who is running the local station and editing what news makes the news .

It's just you. If you're far to the right, you probably see the media as biased to the left. If you are far to the left you see it as biased to the right.. Wise people know this.

and if you're center you will fall out of your chair to the left if you are watching the CBC

Well, I doubt your near the centre, so you don't have to worry about that.
