Political Bias in News Media

No it's not just you!
It is blatantly slanted----unless they are singing your song.
Precisely. The Canadian Press is way less biased than anything available in the States. It's not perfect of course, but no news source is.
And as for the people who think Fox News is a good source, I truly do pity you. You have to watch the American right's personal Ministry of Truth and all of their sycophantic, unscrupulous hosts blabber in order to feel like you've made the right political decisions. Fox News is a joke in journalism and everybody knows it.
The CBC is about as non-biased as news gets people, and that's anywhere in the world. Nonetheless, it didn't stop me from screaming bias during the election. It was like they wanted the Conservatives to win. But afterwards I realised that they were only telling the truth. People in Canada wanted Stephen Harper to be Prime Minister and they were just reporting on that.
Actually....if you reversed the words "Fox News" and "CBC" it would be positively correct.
So it's the CBC who is the sycophantic Ministry of Truth for the American right now is it? That makes (no) sense...
You're delusional pal. I bet you've never even lived in the US. I'm willing to bet the farm on it.
The foolishness of neo-conservatives just astounds me. I mean, I would respect you if you were old-school British-style conservatives, but you're just a bunch of wannabe American twats, and that makes you infinitely annoying, and most of all ignorant since the only idea you have of life in the States comes from television. I've got news for you that you won't here on Fox News... you're not American and life in the US is not the same as what you see on the O.C.
You know, I even have conservative leanings, because traditionally the conservatives truly cared about this country and our heritage. These days you're nothing but a bunch of Yank arse-lickers. And for that, you get no respect (and no votes) from real Canadians.

Thanks for the enlightenment dumbass.

Thanks for the enlightenment dumbass.
Any time.
And it's absolutely true that most Canadians, conservative or not, only know the States from what they see on television. And if you watch the right programmes you might get a pretty good idea of how things work down there. But the only way to really know what it's like to live like a normal person in the US is to BE a normal person in the US.
Been there, done that and the last thing I want is for Canada to become what today's Conservative Party wants to make it: the Maple Leaf State.
Forget it!

Like I have said more than once turn off the damn TV, your brain has been rotted by the CBC.
Fox is biased and so is the CBC, but I don't give a FUCK what FOX wishes to put in their newscasts they don't receive my fucking tax dollars like the CBC which has fucked your head up.

Oh really? And which major news source is responsible for fucking your mind? Or are only left-leaning people susceptible to brainwashing? Sounds sort of convenient...
I'm perfectly capable of forming political convictions without the help of a TV channel.
You seem to think I have my eyes glued to the CBC all day long. That just isn't the case. I'm not a moron who chooses one news source, first off. I watch and read news from all the major sources. Secondly and more importantly, I know how to read between the lines.
I've watched every major news source there is in the US and Canada enough to be very familiar with them all, and the CBC is about as balanced as it gets in North America. Maybe NPR could give it a run for its money, but no one else even comes close.
Like I said, during the election I thought CBC was pro-Harper. I was literally yelling at my radio in my car. I remember I was living in Texas at the time, and I was listening to CBC on Sirius to keep up with the election. But when I came back up here, I realised that they were only reporting what people actually thought.
If they aren't kissing your party's ass, you're going to think they're biased. That's just normal.
mtbr you cant be serious... free Alberta... what would I do without Nickelback? hmnm

And yet many here would argue the opposite. Just goes to show hopw we are prisoners of our own biases. Except for me. I'm above all that.

Exactly. Thank you for pointing that out.

I don't recall ever asking for any in the first place.
CBC is not the only biased network. CTV has shown it's true colours over Afghanistan. Watch for 'defence analyst' Steven Staples, who they drag up as a talking head on defence matters, usually when we lose a guy in the Stan.
The guy is a far left activist who is in 'ceasefire.ca', a former leading light in the 'Polaris institute' another left leaning anti-war activist org.
Having him comment on defence issues is like having the KKK comment on diversity.
I'm not going to sit here and admit that the CBC hasn't been critical of the Conservatives. Of course they have, but they've been just as critical of the Liberals, both when they were in power and after.
In both instances, there would be a lot to be critical of.

Give it a rest.
A balanced CBC panel discussion is someone from the left, someone from the far left and someone from the lunatic left.
